Look out!,
By wsouth@home.dmv.com (Smyrna, Delaware, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Imaginate (Audio CD)
I bought this CD because it was midnight, I was at Walmart out of boredom, and I kept playing "Get Set" on the jukebox all night. I wasn't expecting much but let me tell you, it seems that the best things come when you're not expecting it. I like this CD because it is a sound I have not heard for a long time. Many of the songs have an upbeat rock edge with a tad bit of clean acoustic accompaniment. Also, unlike several bands in this genre, these guys actually HARMONIZE when they sing. It's been done before, yeah, but it just sounds really good here! Some of the lyrics (not all of them) are pretty thoughtful too. It makes you cheer up a bit after getting dumped. My favorite cuts are "Get Set," "Everywhere You Go," "72 Hour Daze," and "Nothing in the World." Better get your copy before all your friends have it. Once "Everywhere You Go" hits the airwaves, these guys are gonna go mainstream but now, at least you can claim that you were listening to them long before they were "cool." A must buy! Also, please let me know if you have found any guitar tablature for these guys.

Nothing In This World compares to Taxiride,
By "kcstrawn" (Long Valley, New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Imaginate (Audio CD)
It was certainly well worth the wait to be able to purchase this import. With its cheerful melodies and well writen lyrics its difficult not to sing along. The remix of "Everywhere You Go", which is not included on the U.S. release, is delightful with its gradual introduction and enhanced instruments. The bonus track of "Helplessly Hoping" is a song where the focus is on the harmony of the vocals which is a surpising change from the rest of the album. The multimedia music videos are a bonus for the U.S. fans who have been anxiously waiting to see them on T.V. Unlike other albums which grow stale after the first few songs, Taxiride has the ability to sucessfully shift gears from light hearted songs like "Ice Cream" and "Everywhere You Go" to more serious songs such as "Can You Feel", "72 Hour Daze", and "Let Me Die Young" and still maintain your interest. For a change from the usual stale and sappy music from today's bands, try this CD which has a character of its own.

Bloody Fantastic!,
By Fletch (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Imaginate (Audio CD)
I'll keep it short. This is an album with depth, variety and feeling. The lyrics are superbly inspired and inspiring and the music complements their feel perfectly. The boys mix it up with a variety of instruments from the sitar to strings. The guys also push their vocals to limits and the listeners reap the rewards. Without a doubt, the best Australian album of 1999 and a must have!
