5.0 out of 5 stars Finaly, a game for people like us!

1.0 out of 5 stars I tried to like this game... I really did.
I was completely stoked to play this game after reading the reviews. Everyone seemed to love it and it sounded so ridiculous, you'd HAVE to have fun. I did glimpse over the few sour reviews, as a lot of you probably will when reading this, considering such a review appears to be of the minority, but this game is just stupid.

It seems the game was created...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finaly, a game for people like us!, December 26, 2009

I always liked games like Cranium, but have felt like they were made for the average person. The stunts and tasks are OK, and humming a tv theme in front of others is probably pushing the limits of regular people, but my friends and I are hams from way back in the day, and when we get together, we spontaneously do things that are ten times funnier and crazier than anything that game has us do. Enter Quelf, a game written for those of us who like a little attention and love to laugh.

You start the game by picking from a cast of hilarious characters (Queen Spatula is one) then you take turns rolling the dice to move around the board. The space you land on dictates the card category which range from serious and ridiculous questions (Does a chicken have lips and if it did, would he smack em?) to stunts (reorganize the room you are in until time runs out while using your best interior decorator impression), to creating awesome lists one person at a time until someone can't think of another one (list reasons you've used or heard when breaking up with someone), to performing (pretend you are a talking parrot and commentate on the last minute of a basketball game using one and two word sentences), to hilarious rules for you individually or for the group (anytime you take a drink, propose a rousing toast that all players join in on). If you can't (or won't, but come on, what kind of party pooper are you?) do a task, you are doomed to move backwards on the game board, further from the goal and victory!

Though there are a few somewhat racy cards (list places you've been naked) nothing is patently sexual or inappropriate. A few pop culture references may fly over the head of some younger players, but you won't feel like a bad parent for playing this in a room with kids in it. They could even join in some of the fun, or even better, the creators of this game have made an even more kid-friendly version called Flapdoodle.) Not only are the tasks a TON of fun, but you'll marvel at how they were able to come up with so many of them and keep the game funny throughout! I'm always a little sore at the end from laughing myself silly.

If you haven't already stopped reading this review, taken aback in horror, then I promise you'll love this game. You and your friends and family will laugh yourselves into a stupor and end up with plenty of fantastic memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun & easy to learn., December 24, 2009

We opened this on Christmas Eve...best decision ever. We laughed so hard. This game is fun and easy for a group to play. The cards have you answering weird questions and pulling off activities that are completely nuts, but funny. My kids got to watch me build a fort out of chairs and blankets and sit in it until my next turn. My son had to snort like a pig every time he laughed...the weirdness and ease of this game are what make it so unique and enjoyable. This is a game for people who are willing to stretch their silliness to the extremes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Your Standard Game Night!, November 13, 2010
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Imagination Quelf Board Game (Toy)
I've only played this once but it was a hoot! I've read a negative review of this game stating that is was silly and pointless. I completely agree, but we had a blast. For example, My father-in-law had to pretend to be an archeologist with a lisp; one sister-in-law had to put a bowl on her head, knock on it with a spatula and ask if anyone was in there; I had to pretend to be the drill sergeant of the game pieces and yell at them when anyone scored points. I can see where serious gamers who are used to strategy games wouldn't enjoy this immense silliness. More introverted personalities might shy away, but if anyone draws a card that is absolutely too outlandish for them, they can always take the penalty (usually moving back spaces) for not performing the task. I'll admit that a few of the cards were flops, but most resulted in ridiculous fun. With that said, you need the right crowd to enjoy this. As long as you're with a group that can handle not taking themselves too seriously, you can have a good time that won't quite compare to your standard game night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously don't leave your friend in the bathroom for 30 minutes, December 29, 2011

This game is outrageously fun. I have never laughed til almost tears playing a game before.

Quelf is as unpredictable as it is fun. With a variety of cards telling you to do spectacular things such as sit in the bathroom until someone asks or make a necktie out of an object from around the house what's not to like? Unless of course you are the person who is stuck in the bathroom for 30 minutes.

There are both rewards and punishments for asking questions of the other players, ridiculous phrases you need to remember to shout out. By all means if you hate fun don't buy this game. It's too much.

This game is a ton of fun IF the players realize it's a random silly game...not much skill involved. The first time we played it, the guys did NOT like it because they couldn't figure out what the point was..lots of silly rules that didn't make sense to them. The second go round, everyone realized it was just a silly fun game and they were more relaxed and just had a ton of fun. If you can't relax and just be silly then this game is not for you. If you like to laugh and have fun then you'll love this game!

Who creates these games?!
We all had to end our sentences with "izzle"! Yes, like SnoopDogg! My SIL had to snort after she laughed. Even the trivia questions are bizarre! It was thinking, acting, obeying possibly embarrassing demands, and just getting a chance to spend time together with friends and family.
I've read the 5 insignificant 1 star reviews, don't listen to them. It's different and fun.
-izzle. Lol, snort!

This game is so much fun! You have to be willing to make fun of yourself. It is a combination of Kings (minus the drinking) and Cranium. There are five decks of cards in different colors that correspond with the colors on the board. Each deck is a different subject Rules, Stunts, Categories,Trivia, and Creativity. Each one better then the other.

This game is so much fun. It's not like most party or trivia games. During our last game one of the players was not allowed to move his elbows or knees for the entire game. It was a riot.

The game is really fun. Especially if you play with old friends. You have to play with people you are comfortable with. Its like a more intense version of cranium!
