This game is really fun!!! You are a skater and you are training for competitions. You have to train in different areas which is what you can do on the mini games. And you have skating moves you have to learn, which are easily done with the stylus. You train and once you are trained you enter a competion. The moves are easy to make and the competitions are fun. I am a teen skater myself and my grandmother saw an advertisement for this game and sent it to me.

It is all together a fun game so far. (I received it tonight) The jazzy/elevator music is slightly annoying, but not repetitious like some games. You can choose between 3 girls, they are all different in looks and the booklet gives their description(likes, dislikes, etc).

There is a School, My Room, Skating Rink, Skate Shop, and Training center that you can visit by using the map. At school, you can occasionally chat w/ friends and 2 guys who you're supposed to like. I haven't figured everything out, yet, so I don't nknow much about them.

Yes, you can change your character's hair and clothes. But, you have to go to the Skate Shop and buy things (like a flower for your hair or a new dress) with your allowance.

Every week you are given 2 goals to complete, I.E.: Raising Stamina 1 level and learning the Double Toe Loop at the Skating Rink.
The Skating Rink is a bit confusing at first. To skate, you must go to the man on the ice who is the owner. Then, he'll ask you if you want to practice the "Whatever you're learning". Don't worry about the training, your coach explains everything pretty well. Though, I think some of them talk too long. Luckily, you can skip on through with the A button so they don't spell out every single letter. lol
You are actually on the ice and it does look similar to how it is when I really skate. Th skating sound itself is inaccurate, similar a mini lawnmower.
You can either complete or fail the move. It takes her a while to set up for the move, then, the little guide comes up over the touch screen where you guide your stylus over. Except, when she falls after failing the move, she giggles or says, "Oh!" in a happy sort of way that is totally odd because when you fall on your *butt* backwards at the speed she's going, it hurts! Another thing, the coach won't let you leave until you get it right. Yea, you have to turn it off to leave if you don't feel like doing it. LOL

There are a few mini games that you can do at the training center. It depends on what you need to do, like raising stamina 1 level, to acccess a game a certain game. I know there are at least 4 and they are creative, but feeding your girl sushi to gain stamina is weird.

Well, to wrap this up, this game is pretty good in the fun area, (4 Stars) but in the realistic area to me, only 3 stars over all because the jumps and spins are named inaccurately gives a little kid who's never skated the wrong impression. Now, I think any girl over 7-8 would absolutely love this game, as my sisters and I have.

You can to choose your music and even the order you want to do your jumps and spins! There is also a little story line which is a little "girlish" if you are an adult. But teenagers and younger kids would probably enjoy the story line. Definately worth the buy and the most fun of all the imagine games!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not like the other Imagine Games: Think Princess Debut, October 23, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Imagine Figure Skater (Video Game)
This game in Japan is actually by the same people who did Princess Debut, which is the second in a series of Princess games (consisting of Princess Debut/Ohimesama Debyuu & Kurkuru Prinsesu/Twirling Princess) produced by Cave (yes, Cave) in Japan. But the games got published by two different companies in the US; Natsume for Debut and UBI Soft for this one. (I guess UBI beat Natsume to it on this one...)

In other words, this game is not made by the makers of the other Imagine games, and is far better. The graphics are marvelous and the gameplay is really fun. If you have looked at the other Imagine games and were in horror; don't let that deter you from buying this one, since they didn't touch the original cute Japanese graphics or fun gameplay at all, as far as I can tell.

The gameplay is also far, far better than that of the other similar (rip off) game, Princesses on Ice, because in this one you move the stylus around the screen and tap it, while on the other you just tap once every few seconds and have no control over the skater's movements; in this one you do different strokes for different routines.

In addition to doing the skating routines, you play many fun mini games to level up thinks like your health meter and strength, by doing things such as eating sushi or playing or curling. By doing these, you are able to do more routines.

I do want to add though, that the English version has some typos left over from the Japanese. I even ran into a full line of gibberish (but that could of also just been a glitch).

So yes, the cover is a Red Herring; this game is far better than the other imagine series. If you liked Princess Debut, you will like this game; it's a very similar game style by the same people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget Icy!! Figure Skater's HOT!!!!, April 21, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

Figure Skater is really fun. I couldn't stop playing it. The mini games rock and even if you become the world champ, it is fun to go back through with a new character. You can design your own programs for composition and make a fashion statement at the same time by designing your own costumes.

My daughter who is 11 and who is a figure skater on a team and on her own. LOVED LOVED LOVED this game. She could not put it down. I made the mistake of giving it to her on the day of her competition. She played all the way up to going on the ice and performing. Came off and wanted to finish the game.

You get to change her costumes, pick her music and her steps for the competitons that she goes to.

Worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it!, January 6, 2010

Where do I start? you start of by selecting a file, then picking out from a choice of 3 girls. (each of them look like anime models) Then you start practicing and unlock mini games to reach your different goals and pass the months to get to each competition. You can go shopping to get outfits and accessories for your artistic points. If you fall during compititions, it really effects you, and you do the whole month over, including practices and mini games. Then you repeat the competition. I once had to do one compitition five times. And it's one of those games where they talk all the time. It gets very annoying. Also, to reach your weekly goals, you have to go all these places and talk to people. Ugh. Other mini games help you reach your weekly goals better. Like they either help you raise stamina, coordination, and artistic. And when you beat the game, the end. If you don't like super talking games, don't buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars for anyone who loves to perform, June 5, 2010
A Kid's Review

This review is from: Imagine Figure Skater (Video Game)
i LOVE this game!! you are a figure skater that wants to win the world championships.you get to design your character and their name. You play by each week. every week you raise either stamina, coordination, or artistry. you also have to learn the new skating move. when you get the weekly goal you have to go into the buildings in town and talk to people. the story line in the beginning is long and boring but gets better.

every few months you have a competition. you get to choose your outfit and acessories. you buy acessories at the skate shop and costumes at the botique. you have to plan your performance. You pick the music, spins, jumps, spirals, or step sequence. your points are awarded in techincal and artistic. if you dont place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd you have to restart it.

eventually you will get to the world championships while gaining fame from the other competions. this is one of my favorite games because it is exciting and not to short. I played this game almost through. it is a great game if you watch the figure skaters in the olympics(which is why i bought it) you should really enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this game with my own money and was a fair buy. i have never been ice skating, so i might not know what it is really like, but this game isnt realistic at all. the graphics are also pretty bad.

the game starts when you are at the skating rink and you get your first weekly goal. every single week you have to raise your stamina, coordintation, or artistry. then you learn a new trick which is very fun. the game is to involved in the story line too. the characters talk for half the game. when you finally get to a competion, you get to design the program. you decide on the music, choreography, and your outfit. if you mess up on 1 trick your score goes down ALOT. you most likely lose then.

it is good and long so you dont finish it a few days also. i have had it for a couple weeks and still havent finished it . happy skating:D

I love this game! It wasn't too easy, or too complicated. I loved how you can pick what you want to wear and what you want to perform at the skating tournaments. I totally recommend this game for everyone to at least try because I LOVED it!!! I wish they would make a second game just like this because I would totally buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite ds game!, August 28, 2011
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Imagine Figure Skater (Video Game)
Hi! im 12 years old and I love this game! Im not a figure skater, but my sister is, and that's why i got it. Some of the reviews say that there's a lot of talking, but it's really not that bad, and I like listening to some of it. There's one thing i didnt like about the game. but it was easily solved. When your character is skating, the skating noise isn't really realistic at all. And your character talks throughout the entire performance, so when I skate, I just turn down the volume. Another thing that i didn't really like about the game, was that it was over too soon! I mean, it did take me a couple days to beat, but i would have liked for it to keep going after. But as soon as you beat the game, you can start a new one over again. Sure, you have to do the same thing over again, just with a different character, but I think its still fun. I would definetly reccomend this game if you're interested in skating, or you are a skater. Its a lot of fun. Its not hard, the mini games are great, and its worth buying. And right now, its at a really good price! Buy it while you can!! I hope this review was helpful to you. :)
