It's the perfect size for him and looks great for just being a plastic bowl.

I wanted to update now that I've learned more about proper betta care and have seen the transformation in my own fish from a few simple tweaks in the way I take care of them. I posted before implying that a heater isn't needed if you keep your house warm. I've since learned that bettas really need to be in water around 80 degrees F for their health and wellness. So I would get a heater and monitor the temperature with a thermometer. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you buy a filter for this bowl. There are several on the market that would work great in this tank. I highly recommend the Red Sea Art Deco Filter, which is what I've used. Anyway, while I now keep my betta in a 6.6 gallon bookshelf aquarium made by Petco, I still recommend this bowl for anyone who finds the smaller size appealing. Just make sure to get a heater and filter too. :)

I got this because it was the biggest fish bowl I could find that wasn't really expensive. It's hard to imagine what 2.5 gallons looks like, so I was actually a little surprised how big it was. Made me feel bad about the bowl I was keeping my betta in before. Anyway, if you're intent upon getting an unfiltered bowl, this is the absolute best choice for your fish and for you. Be sure to change at least a cup or two of water everyday since there is no other filtration, and keep the bowl in the warmest room in your house.

I bought this for my betta and he loves it. It works great, it's the perfect size for him and it's fairly easy to clean. It's also the largest bowl I could find and it is great for someone who likes to have decorations.

I bought this item for my son and his robo fish (toy). It is perfect size and is constructed of some pretty sturdy plastic. There are no rough edges. The opening at the top is a perfect size and the base is a good size too. The whole product is very sturdy. If I ever buy my son real fish I would definitely use this product for that too.

Although they look grey in the photo, there is nothing dark, tinted, at all about this bowl. Perfectly crystal clear. I ordered 4 of them for my bettas and I LOVE THEM!! They are a great size for me to be able to do twice weekly water changes and still have room for lots of tank decorations. They are, indeed heavy when filled with water, but that's to be expected in any bowl, and this plastic itself is very light. In the vendor's image, there also appears to be some strange indentations on the bowl-- I don't know what those are. Mine are beautiful. The drum shape means my thermometers, heaters, and betta beds can all suction to the flat sides, and that less substrate is needed than in a rectangular tank. And for the price, you can't beat it!!! Do yourself a favor and get a scrubbing pad made for acrylic tanks, so you don't scratch the plastic.

When I first took it out of the box I was ready to agree with the one reviewer who said it was a cheap, plastic bowl. But when I saw it was made in America I decided to give it a chance. Once I got it filled and decorated with gravel and a couple plants it looks great! It's nice and clear and looks like glass. My betta really enjoys having the extra room to swim around in. I had him in a 1 1/2 gallon tank before and he wasn't half as active as he is since I put him in this bowl. Plus, since it's plastic it is nice and light and easy to move, so cleaning won't be a chore.

First, I'd like to say that this bowl comes up immediately if you search "glass fish bowl". It does say in the description that it's plastic and this isn't the products fault, but be aware.

Now for a review of the bowl-
This bowl is grossly overpriced. It's a thin plastic and the seams are clearly visible and jagged on the outside. There are also visible marks from the plastic mold. $25 is a complete rip off. I've seen other brands in store at a quarter of the price. The only nice thing I can say about it is that it's lightweight.

I received this today as an upgrade from a 1.5 gallon tank my betta was in previously. I was very happy with the product. The product pictures make the plastic look murky, but as I expected the plastic bowl I received was perfectly clear without any warping. I read a few reviews who said the plastic was thin, but in my opinion the plastic is more than thick enough to be completely safe. I had no issues the plastic bending at all, when carried in a safe manner from the bottom. Yes it has some give, it's plastic not glass, but I feel certain there is absolutely no danger from bending or denting permanently.

The view is perfectly clear, I am very happy. I can now fit a small filter and heater in the tank without any issues. My fish seems very happy with the abundance of space he now has to himself.

I gave the product four stars because of two very minor concerns. One, I think the size estimate is a little misleading, after adding a thin layer of gravel, I filled the tank with two full gallons all the way to the top. 2.5 gallons may be a stretch, even without decor I would estimate a little over 2 gallons at best. This isn't really an issue for me as the size is pretty much perfect for me, any bigger would have been a hassle. Also, the outer side seams and inside of the lip edges were a little rough. Nothing sharp enough to cut oneself, but enough to give you a nice scratch if your not careful. I would have lowered the rating significantly if the inner seams had been rough like the outer ones, for fear of the fish scratching himself. Luckily the inside of the seam was perfectly smooth, so it shouldn't be a problem.

All in all a great product, good quality for a fraction of the price of the thick traditional glass bowl of the same size.
