5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful if you are open minded, March 6, 2010

This review is from: Imagineering for Health: Self-Healing Through the Use of the Mind (Quest Book) (Paperback)
I found this book tremendously useful. The author's simple and straightforward way of presenting what some consider controversial and complex ideas is to be commended. As an adjunct to other reading one may be doing on the mind-body connection, this book is a wonderful supplement. The tone is reassuring and realistic. The author anticipates some resistance from those who may be new to this type of healing and coaches the reader along. The exercises he offers are meaningful and practical. Forgiving those who may have hurt us in the past is difficult. King explains how harboring the emotion of resentment in our subconscious can create real pain in our bodies when it exists as repressed anger. He offers suggested imaging exercises that allow you to finally release the need for revenge and to move on. I am new to understanding this line of thinking and have recently read other books on the subject. On a journey to heal my unexplained physical pain I found this book helpful and have marked areas for re-reading. I applaud Serge King for this wonderful book. Other books I found very helpful are "Healing Back Pain" and "The Mindbody Prescription" by John Sarno.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get teachings from a shaman, March 15, 2011

This review is from: Imagineering for Health: Self-Healing Through the Use of the Mind (Quest Book) (Paperback)
I have had my copy for over 15 years and I have also found that each time that I read it I find something new. While it is about ready to fall apart, I hesitate to part with this copy since it has my personal notes. I have returned to it periodically when I am feeling that my growth is "stuck" with poor outcome of situations; repetitive, undesired feelings; judgmental opinions, and outdated beliefs. Serg King's techniques have formed a basis for much of my personal growth and I consider him a true shaman for me. Understanding and deciphering my body's experiential momentum when I feel stressed, in fear, or in pain has shown me what areas of my life need work next. The book appears small and I found that it contains many principles that are briefly and concisely stated. This might give a reader the idea that these tools are simple; they are and they are not easy and require will power and dedication. Each line contains specific gems that need pondering and internalizing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Imagineering for Health, May 30, 2010
This review is from: Imagineering for Health: Self-Healing Through the Use of the Mind (Quest Book) (Paperback)
Put into the context of Hawaiian Shamanism, Imagineering is a good book for reminding us how to use our thoughts and imagery to create a state of health within and around us. He takes much universal and time-tested "truths", and puts them together in a new and refreshing way. Easy to understand and apply to one's life, this book is definitely worth reading.
