This review is from: Imaginext Exclusive DC Super Friends Robin with Plane (Toy)
One of the newest additions to our kids' collection of Imaginext toys is this little, red Super Friends Robin jet plane. My son's knowledge of Robin's history and biography is very limited, so it doesn't matter to him that Robin doesn't fly around in a green jet. He just likes the looks of this little plane and the super-hero theme, in general. While I agree with him that this little plane does look pretty cool, I am a bit disappointed by the quality of this product, compared to most Imaginext toys. Maybe part of the problem is that clear plastic tends to be made from different, less durable resins than the ones used in opaque plastic toys. The plane feels a bit cheap and definitely wouldn't survive being stepped on by me or my wife, as some of the other Imaginext toys could handle, quite easily. Also, the functional gimmicks on the plane aren't impressive at all. There is a small, spring-powered rocket launcher on the front of the plane, and the plastic rockets just don't lock into place very well. Half the time the rocket is loaded, it either launches prematurely (of its own accord) or is simply pulled out by "Mr. Gravity" as my son flies the plane around the room. This was a poorly-designed contraption, and this is nothing complex. It would have been very easy to design this so that the plastic rockets would not fall out like this. Also, on the bottom of the plane is a trigger. When the trigger is pulled, you would naturally expect the rocket to fire off. Not so. Instead, when the trigger is pulled, small spiral pieces in the wings spin a little bit. (Incidentally, the rocket is fired by pressing on the front landing gear strut, which also means that the rocket will fire off any time your kids "lands" the plane. What genius thought up this design?) My son asked me what the spinning plastic piece was supposed to be. I came up with the explanation that if he looked through the clear plastic wings, he could see the jet engines working. (Whether or not this is the intended purpose/idea behind this is up for debate, but it was the best explanation I could come up with.) He said "Oh." Clearly as unimpressed with this feature as his father, he went back to zooming around the room making his thrust and weapons-fire sounds. Definitely not as good as I expected from Imaginext. Saying this product is OK is the best I can do. It is by no means a great toy, so consider carefully whether or not your money would be better spent on some other Imaginext toy, or a toy from a different product line. I should also probably mention that Imaginext makes a nearly-identical toy plane for Robin. This toy is the Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Super Friends Green Lantern Jet. We bought both of these planes at the same time, and - aside from color differences - the planes are the same design and have the same problems.

I bought this for my younger brother because he pretty much has every other Batman Imaginext toy there is--he absolutely loves it! He takes it everywhere he goes!

I bought this toy for my grandson to add to his Imaginext Batman collection. He is so in love with it that he does not put it down. He even sleeps with it. It is a great addition to his collection. But I must say this one is a hard one to find. They only made a few for this series but it is worth the price to see the smile on my grandson's face.
