4.0 out of 5 stars A nice addition to the collection
We are big Imaginext fans at our house, so when I saw this, I knew it would be a hit. My sons are 5 and 2, and the 5 year old loves his Imaginext pirates and dinosaurs.
It took me about 20 minutes to put together, and that includes the time spent shooing the boys away until I was done. Like most Imaginext, it wasn't difficult to figure out. This one, however,...

3.0 out of 5 stars disappointed in set-up
Although my son loves to play with this toy, it is very disappointing to see it falls apart very easily. It is durable with respect to each piece, but the overall design is poor, because he does not have to play rough for it to come apart.

This one, however, does require a screwdriver for a battery compartment and the big T-rex head.
Pluses - the toy is sufficiently scary and makes some great dinosaur roars and crunching noises. I really like the level of interactivity as well. The boulders can be dropped through all sorts of places, which even the 2 year old gets a kick out of.
Minuses - Not quite as durable as some of the others, especially the little extras, such as fences and prehistoric plants. They keep coming off, but the kids don't mind. Also, since it is built on three levels, it's hard to pick up and carry around.
All the same, I'd certainly buy it again, as it gives my son's dinosaurs a nice home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Birthday Gift, November 10, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

After reading the reviews for the product, I felt the need to post one myself. My son received this item as a gift for his 5th Birthday back in July when it 1st came out. He was soo excited because he already had all the Dinosaurs that belong to the playset. We put it together for him and it has been nonstop fun since. He really enjoys playing with it and little brother loves to hear the Dino head roar and make the crunching sound. We have not had any problems with it falling apart. This is the best thing my son got for his birthday that is actually still plays with. I would recommend that anyone who has a Dino lover get this product it is well worth it. One more thing the only problem we have is getting the leaves to stay on but I guess that isn't a big deal because you can put them in different places on the toy.

Hope this helps with anyone Christmas list!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Addition to the Imaginext Lineup!, October 10, 2005

We have been a fan of Imaginext for about 2 years since we purchased some of the now discontinued city sets for our son. He started his Imaginext "collection" at age 7 and at age 9 still enjoys building and reconfiguring the sets. I recently purchased the T Rex mountain since he is a science and dinosaur fan. He loves it! He combined it with his Rockslide Ridge and Coast Guard set to make a "Jurassic Theme Park." This toy really sparks some good creative play. I do not agree with the age range on the box--it may be a bit difficult for a 4 year old to put together without help-but for the 6 to 9 age group, it provides a great opportunity for constructive, creative play. The set is colorful and has some neat "special effects."

4.0 out of 5 stars My son's 4th birthday present, October 27, 2005

My son just received this toy for his fourth birthday and loves it. I was a little apprehensive to buy it with all of the negative feedback I read about it falling apart. However, every time he saw it he made sure I knew that this was what he wanted. I am so happy we bought this for him. It does not fall apart nearly as easy as I thought and read that it would. The little pieces do come off quite easily however my son can put them back on himself. It does not bother him at all. Overall I think this toy is great and would be good for any little boy that loves dinosaurs.

4.0 out of 5 stars More fun with Imaginext, October 28, 2005

My son (5.5) has the castles and dungeons and forts and pirate ships. We made a bit of a departure by going dinosaur. We were a bit skeptical because the dinosaur sets previously looked pretty dry unless your kid was a dino-freak.

My son, no dino-freak, flipped for t-rex mountain. He put it together and it has held up fine. Its a great toy, and sparks great imagination in my boys building. Fortunately that box of dinos that has been languishing under his bed has some play now.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 stars - great toy in theory.........but bad design, November 22, 2005
This review is from: Imaginext System: T-Rex Mountain with Exclusive Bonus (Toy)
Although this toy states for 4-8 year olds, I think it would work best for the higher end of this spectrum. Getting this Mountain together took some work and although I like that idea of being able to rearrange and reconfigure it however you want, this choice leaves the entire piece unstable. TIP: place this on a table for play since we've found leaving it on the floor leads to it falling apart more easily when played with by the kids. I have a 4 yo son and he ends up frustrated by the way it easily falls apart but when we try to put it away, he gets upset because he really likes playing with it.......so parents beware. Also, some of the pieces are very poorly designed (the falling palm tree rarely works and the boulder thrower does not work without breaking off) and the decoration pieces (fences & bushes)constantly fall off. This toy is equally frustrating for both parents and children. But my son seems to love it no matter how frustrating it gets and the related dinosaur pieces are great.

Great toy. The boys loved it. The boys are rather rough and we have put it back together several times but their enjoyment is worth it.

My Husband and I just bought this toy for our son's 6th Birthday, we thought it looked like such a neat toy for him to have, we bought all the dinosaurs and accessories for it also. Our son LOVE'S Dinosaurs!! It took my husband about 20 minutes to get it together, and about 10 minutes for it to fall apart! My son tried to move it to his bedroom and didn't even get it off the ground when all 3 levels came apart! The plants and everything fall right off, and it in NO way snaps together or anything! If you barely touch the thing it falls apart. My son was SO excited to get it put together so he could play with it, now he is afraid to touch it because it falls apart and we are ALL tired of putting it back together. I feel it is very poorly made and I wouldn't spend the money on it again. I am going to buy some super glue and see if I can get it to stay together that way. Although we do Love the Imaginext toys, this one gets two thumbs down!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm quite pleased., October 31, 2005
A Kid's Review

I am a 13 year old and I have loved dinosuars since Barney, which was when i was 2. I am a DINO-FREAK, I love dinosaurs and I am fond of imaginext so I bought it and bought Razor and Basher (sold seperatly). It took me HOURS to put that huge thing up. Which became very very fustrating at times. The directions are made like a secret laungauge, it only shows some pictures for directions and put the picture of the certain part at an angle! could they made it any harder???!!!
So just then its all together, and I start playing with it. (BOOM) falls apart. And I fix it again, it falls apart easily so it isnt very durable. But after 3 times I secured it and it never happend again. Overall the play is great, captivates me for hours. I love the flashing lights and falling rocks, and SUCH realistic sounds!, some hidden passage ways here and there and a cute dinosaur and cave man figurine come with the set. I love making the big dinosaur eat the caveman!!!! so fun!!!
I also intend on collecting all the dinosaurs!, Also some fun. At the time I could have got all of them, but whats the fun of collecting then?
Although this toy was hard to but up, I love it. I think you have to just secure it sometimes and it will stay. (That's all I needed to do)
All dinosuar lovers! ATTENTION, this is a must!
I reccomend this for big imaginations!
(for little roleplayers too!)

The ONLY downside is durablity, if you have tought strong kids that love to knock down things and play roughly,
I REALLY woulden't reccomend :-)
