Nick Paccione's review was most interesting, and hit upon thoughts and feelings for his review, as I wished I had. Thank you Mr. Paccione, M-K-C/Creative Services ;-) Care to add anything Mr. Paccione? Please do!

"Imagining Liza" is an amazing look into the mind of a devoted fan. A longtime Liza fan myself, I felt as if Fauvre understood just how I felt. After reading the memoir, I bought copies for friends. Fauvre's spirited attemts to meet Liza provided exciting and entertaining reading. Her insights into the reasons for her fascination with Liza can be helpful to one trying to develop self knowledge. The author gives a wonderful description of Liza off stage, her appearance and personality. I felt as if I was actually in the room during their meetings. Any fan of Liza will love this book, and anyone who has strived for a seemingly impossible dream will be inspired by the author's ultimate success.

This is a very unique book that would make a great film. Beverly Fauvre provides a rare look into the heart and mind of a true fan. She exposes herself and her fantasies without holding anything back. Her writing style is honest, self-effacing and illuminating. As you read the book you feel her growth as a person and by the time you reach the last page, you'll feel like you've grown a little yourself. This book is quite touching and a real treat for anyone who ever dreamed or schemed about meeting their celebrity idol in the flesh.

5.0 out of 5 stars A journey into Bev's imagination, March 25, 2001

This review is from: Imagining Liza: Memoir of a Fan (Paperback)
Beverly Fauvre has put her heart on her sleeve and into her writing. She discloses her private feelings, from the guilt of caring, dwelling, even wishing on a star (something out of the ordinary for many)to the triumph of realizing a piece of her dream. In the process, we learn about her personal growth and Liza's, including experiencing the days of Minnelli's white hot, blazing career. Sometimes we forget that when a fan goes the extra mile, she or he is doing so out of an appreciation for what is great and special about an artist, and there is no doubt that Liza radiates that greatness as a performer, interpreter, singer and actress. Congratulations, Mrs. Fauvre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book., February 6, 2001

This review is from: Imagining Liza: Memoir of a Fan (Paperback)
Fascinating book. An insightful journey into the world of being a fan- and being a person. The book is beautifully and honestly written. The author takes us into her own world as well as the world of Liza and her fans. For a glimpse of the backstage Liza, the book is a must for any fan. For anyone on the journey to self-discovery, the book is full of insight. Beverly's self-knowledge as well as her knowledge of the Jungian concept of projection is very helpful in making sense of the experience of being a fan of a superstar. While the book is spiced with such wisdom, it is also fun and fascinating to read about the Liza the fans closest to her perceive and the fans themselves. Its hard to stop until you've read it through because the book is such a delight. The author is willing to share herself as well as her experiences with Liza. Very well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Imagining Liza" Captures The World Of Liza With Love, January 25, 2001
This review is from: Imagining Liza: Memoir of a Fan (Paperback)
"Imaging Liza" is an astounding read, by a brilliant writer, Beverly Fauvre. The author shares her deepest feelings of joy, and self-doubt in an extremely honest way. As you read the book, you'll see her grow from a star-struck fan, to someone who is able to see her hero as a human being. This journey makes for a thrilling page-turner, as we wait to see how her dream comes true, and it does -- with Beverly eventually accepted into Liza's group of regulars who get to share time with the lady backstage, etc. The book is quite revealing of Liza's life in that backstage world, done with a great amount of love, as well as featuring some keen and aware observations of the life a legend leads.

Ultimately about making dreams come true -- and about realizing we often overlook the same qualities in ourselves that we admire in others -- "Imagining Liza" is a true treat and a must for any admirer of the magical Minnelli. I look forward to reading more from this gifted writer.

4.0 out of 5 stars She Dreamed a Dream, April 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Imagining Liza: Memoir of a Fan (Paperback)
Most of us at, one time or another, have dreamed a dream. Beverly Fauvre reached for her dream, and along the way grew up and became a star in her own right. In addition, she gives us a love story between a husband and wife in their support for one another. A delightfully honest and appealing book.
