5.0 out of 5 stars great quality
After my ace bandages lost their stretch, I got these and they are
very well padded, bulky even, but so soft inside (like tshirt
jersey/microfiber) that I don't mind. Very cozy and secure feeling.
Real sticky velcro, washable, will definately buy another pair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Plastic insert design has issues - I found a cure for some of it, May 10, 2010

Due to the fact the plastic insert is completely flat, there is no bend in the elbow. I had a very difficult time trying to sleep with my arms fully extended and completely straight. Also, the lack of a bend made it very easy for the splint to slide right down the arm. Most nights, if I wasn't removing the splint just so I could be comfortable enough to sleep, I'd wake up to find the splint was around my wrist instead of my elbow. Either way, I'd wake up with one elbow bent and numbness in my hand. If I made the splint any tighter, it would be too tight on the arm for circulation.

The cure that solved this problem for me: A heat gun. While holding the plastic insert with pliers, I heated the center of the insert just enough to allow it to bend at the center, and I carefully bend the insert about 20 degrees (if one half of the insert is flat on a table, the other half comes up from the table at a 20 degree angle). This shallow angle provides just enough elbow bend to prevent the splint from sliding down the arm while sleeping, and it also makes the splint much more comfortable to wear. The first night after doing this modification was the first time I woke up with both splints on my arms, and no numbness.

The other issue I have with the plastic insert is that it's too narrow, and it can cause discomfort at the two ends, where it can dig into the wrist and the bicep. This could be improved if they had a wider insert that was molded to fit the curve of the arm, instead of the "flat stick" that it is. Overall, it's a decent product, but I spent weeks trying to learn to wear it at night with no luck, so it was doing me no good until I altered the insert. Hope this review and modification idea is helpful to the other users who reported similar problems.

I have a damaged nerve running from my hand to my elbow. The doctor suggested getting something to keep it straight during sleep. Which this product did. But I found that it did not solve my problem. The only other comment is that it does slide around while sleeping.

Didn't have any luck with this product.
I couldn't get it to stay up on my arm .
I would wake up and it would be down to my wrist.
Could be me, Don't know for sure.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, March 9, 2010
This review is from: Imak Elbow Support - Adjustable Pil-O-Splint Universal
This thing is, in my opinion, a flimsy piece of junk. I find it very difficult to place on myself, but perhaps that is because I have a small arm. The small piece of plastic also does not contour to the elbow, and is not enough to maintain a constant position during sleeping. It also slips down continuously.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid comfortable splint., January 14, 2011

This is a well made comfortable elbow splint. It does what it is intended to. I will echo a previous reviewer's comment about the plastic splint it comes with forcing the elbow into a completely straight position, however. This is easily mitigated if you carefully heat a spot on the hard plastic splint (say, with a butane lighter) and gently bend it into a 10 or 20 degree angle.

I purchased this item on a recommendation from the orthopod that I saw to get an elbow immobilizer for sleep.

It is difficult to sleep with an elbow splint, but if you have to this one is the one to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compressed Ulnar Nerve while sleeping., November 12, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Imak Elbow Support - Adjustable Pil-O-Splint Universal
I use this while sleeping to help keep my arm straight. I have a compressed ulnar nerve and this helps. I'm an "active" sleeper with 16+ inch arms so it doesn't stay put. Its hard to velcro on tight without help, and its never stayed in position all night, but all in all, its not perfect, but its pretty good. I have noticed a big difference since I started using it.

**update** the plastic splint snapped in two while I was sleeping. I contacted the seller who put me in contact with the manufacturer. The manufacturer's rep was VERY helpful. They sent me a replacement splint at no cost to me! The replacement arrived less than 4 days after I contacted the seller! This may be the best service resolution I've ever had. I will definitely use them again.
