3.0 out of 5 stars Ok not great
My hubby bought this to try out and he rarely uses it so I commandeered it for myself. I have taken this on training runs and even a 10K race. The case itself is of some stretchy material with a plastic shield to cover the face of the IPhone. The shield is thick and makes the screen less sensitive. The armband is adjustable, fits snugly and doesn't slide around too...

This review is from: Imation Sportwrap Armband Case for iPod touch 2G, 3G; iPhone 3G, 3Gs (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this arm band to use with my Apple Nike + iPod Sport Kit for iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, iPod touch 1G, 2G and iPhone 3GS, which connects directly to the sensor without using the included receiver. The plastic cover is sewn into the armband on the inside of the pouch, unlike some cheaper models that are glued on, so it will not come loose over time. And because the plastic cover is clear from top to bottom, you can turn the iPhone right side up or upside down and still see every bit of the touch screen - however - if you are using wired headphones, the pre-cut hole for the headphone jack is in the top of the armband. I use the wireless bluetooth Altec Lansing 906/R US BackBeat Headphone with Dongle, which also connect directly to the iPhone for wireless music and phone usage, so I can turn the iPhone either way in the armband - there are no wires coming out of it while I'm wearing it!

The entire armband is made of neoprene and the strap is soft and wide, so it doesn't feel like it is cutting into your arm. The strap also has soft velcro along the entire length of it, so the armband will accommodate both large and small arms well. The wire wrap does pop out if you have wireless headphones and don't want to use it, but it really doesn't bother me, so I just left it in. The plastic cover is protective, but thin enough that the touch screen can still sense your finger through it.

One of my biggest concerns was whether or not my iPhone would fit inside the armband with it's protective hard case on, or if I would have to take it off before inserting it into the pouch, which is done through an overlapped slot in the neoprene at the top on the inside of the armband. I have the Richard Solo hardcase that came with the RichardSolo 1800 for iPhone - External battery pack + power adapter Li-Ion 1800 mAh, and I also have the Zagg invisibleSHIELD for the Apple iPhone 3G (Front) on the screen of my iPhone. I did not have to take the case off - it fits snugly into the pouch with the case on! I do have to be careful when removing the iPhone from the armband, as the Zagg film can stick a little to the plastic cover on the SportWrap, but it's not a big deal to gently pry them apart. I'm not sure how other protective cases and films will fit, but the two items I have work nicely.

Overall, I'm very satisfied. I ran 5 miles last night with the SportWrap on. It didn't slip once, and I never had to readjust it, even after soaking it with sweat. I agree with other reviewers that the iPhone, in general, is large for wearing on your arm, but this armband is solid, comfortable, and I have no doubt that my phone is safe while wearing it.

My hubby bought this to try out and he rarely uses it so I commandeered it for myself. I have taken this on training runs and even a 10K race. The case itself is of some stretchy material with a plastic shield to cover the face of the IPhone. The shield is thick and makes the screen less sensitive. The armband is adjustable, fits snugly and doesn't slide around too much. It works okay except that I notice that the back of the IPhone gets a little moisture when I sweat which is NOT good. The other issue I have is that the velcro closure to make the armband snug rubs against my skin and has caused superficial abrasions. Overall, this case works okay but I'm definitely looking for one that is more waterproof and doesn't abrade my tender arm skin.

Very solid, yet screen accessible arm band for the iPhone. I have iPhone 3GS and it fits perfectly. The little plastic tab on one side (for wrapping excess headphone cord) is designed to be removed easily if you don't want it or have bluetooth headphones. I have no fear of the iPhone falling out.
The strap is wide, so it doesn't cut into your arm, and all neoprene. Only bummer is that it kind of feels like a blood pressure cuff (this is my first arm band) - but I don't fault the design - I think anything strapped securely to your arm will feel that way.
Works for large adult arms, looks like it will work on smaller arms also. It is too big for 80 lb kid's arms (my child was playing with it and tried it on).

Overall, I'm satisfied with this product. There aren't many products which can be used for running with an iphone (curious since it has Nike+ built in), but this one works fine. The iphone itself is a bit big to be "armbanded" (not a criticism of the product just a fact).

Pros:

It's easy to get the iphone in and out of the case. It's also easy to navigate to your ipod and other apps thru the large, clear plastic screen. Headphones plug in easily. The phone is completely surrounded by cushy neoprene. The neoprene keeps the phone secure inside, as well as fairly still on the arm. Easy to put on/take off. Removable headphone cord wrap is nice.

Cons:

Arm size: I'm 5'7" 130 lbs and there isn't much room on the armband left, so I'd be cautious if your arms are much skinnier than mine.

Volume rocker is not accessible when phone is in place. Either need to use onscreen volume control or a headset with remote vol control (which is easier to use on the fly anyway)

Hard to see the screen when it's on your arm (true for arm bands in general)

4.0 out of 5 stars Some design quirks and limitations, May 28, 2009

It does the job of holding your iPhone well enough, but you'll have to use the onscreen volume control, which is hard to do on the move. Also, it would be better if the phone were oriented upside down for easier viewing while the device is on your arm. As it is you have to read the screen either upside down or at best at a 90º angle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can fit my phone with the case on it, November 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Imation Sportwrap Armband Case for iPod touch 2G, 3G; iPhone 3G, 3Gs (Black) (Electronics)
I bought a 3GS instead of the 3G mainly because of the Nike+ functionality. Little did I know that there werent very many good armbands around. Most that I found were combination with a belt clip-esque case that clipped onto a band. The main advantage of those is you dont have the hassle of taking your phone out of its normal case.

With this case I can put my phone in there with its regular case already on. I have the Speck Candy Shell case which has a nice lip above the case and it fits in the armband fine. Probably one of the larger cases Ive seen. If you have a rubbery case I dont think it would slide in there too easily.

While Im new to the whole iphone thing, I know when somethings made well. The clear plastic window is sewn into the armband not glued like most things. I should get my $15 worth.

For now, this is the best solution for those of you who have an iphone and want to run with it. I cant say anything about any sort of moisture barrier but I think itll be fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review, August 8, 2009
This review is from: Imation Sportwrap Armband Case for iPod touch 2G, 3G; iPhone 3G, 3Gs (Black) (Electronics)
Overall, fairly satisfied with the product. Compared to other armbands, this one is pretty secure, the iPhone is easy to slide in and out, you have extra room in the pocket to drop in a key, some cash or a credit card. It also fits the iPod touch very well.

On the flip side, the volume rocker is not only inaccessible, but if you touch the area there the volume rocker is, it is almost impossible to control what happens with the volume. Also, the head phone wrap is a bit stout and is not built to wrap the wire more than 2 or three times around.

I think a better product could serve the same purpose (such as a belt clip), but for the purpose of an armband, this is one is fairly efficient.

Hint when using it: strap the armband on upside down. It makes it a lot easier to navigate the iPhone/iPod touch when on the go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable and Easy, December 4, 2009

This review is from: Imation Sportwrap Armband Case for iPod touch 2G, 3G; iPhone 3G, 3Gs (Black) (Electronics)
just so you know I am a bigger guy and this armband is comfortable and easy to change the width. I can see how a smaller arm person might have some trouble with it. Your average person should have no problem.

I myself actually use the armband upside down because I find it easier to use the controls and change it up. I use a 3rd Gen iPod 32g Touch and it fits perfect. After a run my arm isn't scratched up and I didnt spend half the run worried about the band falling off.

Pros:
Material is Soft and Comfy,(fits nicely)
Headphone Cord wrap for extra cord
Cheaper than others

Cons:
Plastic screen is a little thick

The product quality is pretty good. Iphone slips in comfortably.
Pros :
Iphone feels very secure.
Touch screen still accessible (not very responsive though).
Velcro is made of pretty good material
Light weight.

Cons (Minor):
I have a silicone case and I have to remove it everytime I need to use the sportwrap.
You have to use the touch screen to adjust the volume. The volume buttons are not accessible.

Overall I love this product and happy that I made the right selection

Update (March 2010):
I recently bought [...]case-mate barely there case for iphone 3g </a> for my iphone. Now I don't have trouble inserting/removing the iphone from the sportwrap with the case on.

It has been a few months since, I bought this and no issues at all. I workout 5 days and week and it gives me a very secure feeling about my iphone every single time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for the experienced, January 13, 2010

My wife got this for me and in general it's pretty good. I am by no means huge, but the arm band barely fits. The wide strap and neoperene make it comfortable, but it's a bit short. Good for walking around, not so good for working out.
