excellent reflective devotional, December 13, 2006
For anyone not familier with his music, this book will be an excellent introduction into a true wordsmith. Card is able to give insight into the life of Christ, born of a deep faith, and enhanced through a study of the Word. The words to the songs are followed by stories, either fictional reflections of "might have been," or personal refelctions from his own life, which give the reader a place to begin reflection on his own faith, and it application to life.

Great Insight Communicated Well, August 14, 2009
Michael Card has a sharp eye, finely honed through Biblical studies and a heartfelt passion for Jesus Christ, that provides a unique perspective. Card also has a versatile voice which sounds forth clearly as he writes lyrics, sing songs and, in this book, writes prose. There's prose in his poetry and poetry in his prose. There's Michael, his struggles and life experiences within, but mostly there's Immanuel, the Word made flesh. This is a fine, Christ-centered, practical, touching, deep, insightful work, well communicated.

Reflections On the Life of Christ, April 5, 2006
This review is from: Immanuel: Reflections On the Life of Christ (Paperback)
"I've always identified with the wisemen. Not because I'm particularly wise, but because I've always wanted to be. I saw wisdom as something to posess. That's why I went to college to study philosophy. "Now that I've learned that wisdom is not facts or the accumulation of them. Wisdom isn't something you know as much as it is something you are or become. "Our journey in this book begins where the wisemen's journey ended. We have found that wisdom has to do with life. Here we walk with Jesus through His life for a new understanding of the meaning of 'God with us" and a closer relationship with the Lord." - Michael Card --- from book's back cover
