5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the Best Ella Recording out there, March 17, 2002

This review is from: Immortal Concerts 1957-1958 (Audio CD)
I have always been on the hunt for Ray Brown/Ella Fitzgerald collaborations. Although, the entire album does not feature them together, this record showcases Ella's best in a way none other has, in my experience. There is something for everyone, from "Angel Eyes" to "Lullabye of Birdland." Wonderful repertoire, amazing instrumentation. This is a wonderful, WONDERFUL recording.. and it doesn't SOUND live.. it sounds like a studio recording, but just happens to have her thanking the audience. It is of such good quality. It even has a Louis Armstrong impression.. it's fabulous. I have absolutely no complaints about this record. If you have heard about Ella and haven't heard her yet (GOD FORBID!),this would be an excellent way to start your experience towards the goddess. Enjoy.
