Anders felt a connection to Valerie from the moment he cradled her bruised body in his arms. But before he claims her, he must destroy the vampire who almost stole her from him forever. First, for long time lovers of this series, let me say it is much better than the Lady is a Vamp. I liked both Anders and Valerie and think they could be a good match. Unfortunately, they didn't spend much time talking and interacting with each other. Valerie spent more time talking and being with Leigh than Anders. About halfway through the book I was thinking about getting a score card to keep track of how many different leads from previous books made guest appearances. I was glad to see each of them, but there were so many guest stars it got overwhelming and in the way of seeing this couple actually interact with each other and fall in love. I would NOT recommend this book as a place to start the series.

As a result, the book was a four star for me until the very end when an inconsistancy made me scream and cost it a star.

**mild spoiler alert**

The villan of the book had been holding Valerie captive at the beginning of the book and near the end she was able to provide an important clue to helping find him. Greg helped her go through her memories and she remembered seeing an old, poorly maintained renaissance portrait of her captor. (page 278) He was dressed in fur and a ruffled collar and they used that to get a sketch of his face in the hopes of finding him. (This bothered me a little - in past books descriptions of bad guys have been taken directly from the victims mind - here they used police sketch artists.) Then Valerie remebered seeing him since then, letting everyone know he was trying to recapture her.

I was fine with that until the very last chapter when Mortimer reports back that they have questioned the now captured villan and he has informed him that he was turned on the battle fields of WWI. (page 351)How in the bleep is a man who was painted during the renaissance era supposed to have not been turned until WWI??!! How could everyone who read this book before it went to print have missed this issue?

Valerie didn't believe in Vampires.. excuse me Immortals, I mean why would she.. until she is kidnapped and imprisoned by a rogue Immortal. Valerie is rescued by the Argeneau rescue team. Anders one of her rescuers finds that he can't resist his attraction to her and believes Valerie to be his life mate. Anders will do anything to protect her and to make her his...

Immortal Ever After is the latest book in Ms. Sands Argeneau series. Not having read any previous books in this series, I was a little worried I might not be able to jump right into the story, I quickly discovered that the books in this series are all stand alone books.

I love the way Lynsay "humanizes" Anders. Immortals have a sensory awakening when they find their life mate, after years of not eating real food, his appetite returns, and he loves ice cream..(so cute). The attraction and chemistry between Anders and Valerie will make your heart flutter and your toe's curl (As for the humor- just wait until you read what Ander's real name is... that made me laugh out loud). The drama in the book is effectively married with the passion and the humor. I finished this book wishing every book I read made me feel this way when I turned the final page.

I am excited to read more books in this series and if you are a fan of series books there are A LOT of them (20 to be exact). On the top of my TBR list is Bite Me If You Can, I loved Lucian and Leigh's relationship in this book, so I can't wait to see how they became the couple they are in Immortal Ever After.

Love the no nonsense vet in this book. I know for a fact that veterinarian are non known to swoon. I was glad they didn't make her a come rescue me girl. The only thing lacking from this book was some humor I've come to expect in the IMA series. I hate to say the plot was predictable since Lynsay Sands is one of favorite authors but it was a tad cookie cutter. But have no doubt I will preorder her next book and be waiting for the midnight download.

After spending 10 days as a vampire's prisoner, Valerie is healing but remains under the protection of enforcers as they locate her captor. Not that she's complaining with a handsome man like Anders watching over her. Like all immortals, Anders is thrilled to have found his lifemate in Valerie. Though convincing her it's a good thing will be tricky seeing how her last encounter with his kind didn't go so well. Anders will try to show Valerie not all immortals are fiends and he's deserving of her heart.

There's nothing exceedingly remarkable about Valerie or Anders but that's not to say they're not good characters. Valerie has no family, which makes her a perfect target for an immortal, they don't like being called vampires, looking to collect victims to snack on. Able to break free, she saves her fellow captives. Valerie is a survivor that takes things in stride. Even after Anders admits what he is and the truth about his people, she keeps it together. Her calm demeanor and heroic actions is what I enjoyed most about her. I love a heroine who's logical and doesn't wait around to be rescued.

Anders is an enforcer with a sad past that helped pave the way to his position. He's great to Valerie and puts his whole heart into winning her over. I thought he moved their physical relationship too quickly despite warnings from his friends. The lifemate bond makes every couple rush things but with what she went through, it would have felt more gentlemanly if he would've taken a step back. Not that she didn't welcome it and it was pretty steamy, I just expected better behavior from someone as together as Anders.

As with most books in this series, catching the bad guy or what have plays a minor role to the romance.
