5.0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to immunology
This book is a great introduction to immunology. Many other immunology books have too much information to absorb, but this book is as brief as possible without sacrificing clarity. I especially liked the review questions and ample references at the end of each chapter.

3.0 out of 5 stars For MS-1s
This book is adequate. I cannot give it a much more glowing review than that. I must agree with some of the other reviewers in that it lacks good figures. The text is ok. I would definitely discourage anyone from buying this as a reference text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ordering for second time, March 12, 2006
This review is from: Immunology: A Short Course (Paperback)
I love this book! I'm a 4th year medical student and I have 3 other texts on immunology and this is the one that I keep going back to. I loaned it to a friend and it burned in a fire so here I am ordering it again. The text is simple and to the point. The diagrams are suitable and I found them detailed enough. This is my bedtime reading book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding introduction to the principles of immunology., July 5, 1996
By A Customer
This book, with good color graphics and easy to understand descriptions of immunological processes, is the best introduction to the field that I have read. It is clearly written and all of the information is presented in language that informs rather than confuses the reader. The authors do a very good job of balancing the conflicting demands of scientific rigor and readability. At the end of the book, I felt that I had a firm grasp of the principles of immunology and the knowledge to approach more advanced and technical works. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in developing a firm understanding of the basic science of immunology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy read, great color pictures!, January 20, 2009
The Coico Immunology book is what I am currently using as my (required) textbook for medical school Immuno course. It is a GREAT text, especially this new edition. Fabulous color pictures (I am all about the pics!) and easy to read text. Plus, it's not a huge volume, so everything is summed up comprehensively but succintly (leaving nothing out, without being a tome). Highly recommended textbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars As textbooks go, this one is a very good read., February 1, 1998
By A Customer
I read this book and I second the customer comment from "A Reader" dated 07/05/96. This is a great, user-friendly, humanely written book. Better to really know this book and use Janeway, Roitt or another text as a reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!! There is no other word for it., November 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Immunology: A Short Course (Paperback)
This book is excellent as an introductory textbook of immunology. I teach 1st year medical students immunology and have very little curriculum time to do this. The 5th edition of Immunology: A Short Course covers all the essential material without making it needlessly cumbersome. I recommend it without reservation.

I am using this book in conjunction with another and this one is much easier to understand. It clearly outlines what the cells functions are and is well written. It was written in a more logical order so you are able to see the big picture before learning all the small details which helps me in learning quite a bit.

I mainly bought the book because it has review questions at the end of each chapter that sometimes appear on our exams.
For med students I would definitely stick with the BRS Micro/immuno and augment it's succinctness with handwritten notes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Immunology a short course, January 13, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Good shipping procedure. Product seems to belong in an upper level class. I had difficulty understanding a lot of the book. There are too many bright colors and not enough diagrams. I had to reference other material and draw my own pictures to figure how things work. A CD should be included in the book to explain processes. I would not recommend for a MLT student.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helped me out a great deal......., January 1, 2012

Liked that the book was very detailed. May have been too detailed but that's ok because it was what I had to depend on when I could not comprehend the lecturer's notes. Once I read this book then the lecture notes made sense........
