"The Impact of Awakening" is a collection of excerpts from the dharma talks and dialogues of spiritual teacher Adyashanti on the nature of spiritual awakening and the embodiment of self-realization. These discussions explore the true meaning of enlightenment in a down-to-earth language that reflects Adyashanti's roots in Zen Buddhism and non-dualism. These talks give many spiritual seekers the gift of freedom as a lived human experience.

Review

Like great Zen masters of old, Adyashanti breaches the bounds of conventional Buddhist discourse and speaks directly from Being itself. -- Stephan Bodian, from Foreword of Book

About the Author

Adyashanti has been described as a warm, down-to-earth, deeply-realized teacher by book reviewer Rodney Stevenson. After many years of Zen training he had a series of profound awakenings and began teaching at the request of his teacher in 1996. He speaks the language of both Zen Buddhism and Vedanta and brings a deep transmission to his students through his presence and love of truth. He teaches in the U.S. throughout the West, Northwest and Southwest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightenment roadmap, January 3, 2004

This review is from: The Impact of Awakening: Excerpts From the Teachings of Adyashanti (Paperback)
Adyashanti's "The Impact of Awakening" is a guide that helps us see where we are on the "awakening" map. It is a book that can be read and reread each time our location changes. Common misperceptions, beliefs, and "blind alleys" are pointed out clearly and compassionately through a question and answer format. Through his writings, intensives and retreats, what impresses me most about Adyashanti is his integrity. This book contains as honest an explanation of what awakening is and is not as you will find anywhere. There are a few books that I consider spiritual treasures. This is one of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Satsang You Can Use, April 4, 2004

This review is from: The Impact of Awakening: Excerpts From the Teachings of Adyashanti (Paperback)
This is a very good collection of Satsang commentary with primarily a Q&A format. Adyashanti is very clearspoken and obviously has a mastery of his subject. While there is nothing really new in this book, (is there ever?) the message can indeed be earthshakingly new to a "person" who has not yet sensed their own true identity. Beyond that, it is just good solid refresher course Wisdom. This teacher apparently has seen through the idea of the separate existence we tend to believe in for "ourselves." And as other great teachers have insisted, this seeing of our ultimate Oneness, pure Beingness, is itself the final and greatest triumph of life. This is a very good book for the reader whose outlines are fading and whose inlines are brightening, i.e. dawn is at hand. I highly recommend this book; isn't it time to quit being somebody?

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, Direct and Authentic, January 18, 2004
By
Roscoe (Honolulu, Hawaii USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Impact of Awakening: Excerpts From the Teachings of Adyashanti (Paperback)
Adyashanti spells out the "Impact of Awakening" with incredible clarity and directness, and with an accessible and down-to-earth language and style that many will find a welcomed relief from the typcial 'spiritual speak'.

Whether one has had the good fortune to see him in person, listen to the many tapes of his satsangs and intensives or is meeting him for the first time through his books, the sublimity with which he cuts through the egoic trance is unmistakable, as is the authenticity empowering his words.

Adyashanti genuinely embodies the non-dual awakeness of which he speaks and the twelve chapters of questions and answers found in this gem are destined to be seen as a spiritual classic for years to come.
