4.0 out of 5 stars Generally a good book., September 16, 2005
This review is from: Impact (Dover Civil and Mechanical Engineering) (Paperback)
1st of all, the content of the book is old. The book is written based on a collection of works and papers written before 1960, so if you are looking for the recent developments in mechanics of impact behavior, this is not the book.
Advantages:
1. Gives a good idea, introduction, and explaination about the models and theories of impact , contact phenomena, and wave propagation.
2. It contains many comparisons with experimental data, and also it contains a whole chapter about results of impact experiments.
3. No unnecessary stuff (i.e. it is "generally" simple, and direct).
Disadvantages:
1. It is an old content book.
2. Needs some knowledge of advance calculus and partial differential equations.

So I dont recomand this book for undergraduate students, but i think it is useful for graduate students and researchers.

4.0 out of 5 stars PPA-first, September 21, 2008
This review is from: Impact (Dover Civil and Mechanical Engineering) (Paperback)
I found the book rich of useful explanations and methods for both the understanding of impact phenomena and the practical engineering applications. Many cases are thoroughly developed and prompt to be used in real situations.
