This is part of a lecture series sponsored by NASA during it's 25th anniversary celebration. You have Isaac Asimov talking about computers and space stations while Burke and Bergman talks about the legacy of science and where we we are headed. These are extemporaneous speeches, so you won't see a structured explanation about the evolution and effect of science on society. Burke talks about paradigm shifts, Bergman tries to identify where we might be in 2000 (he gave this speech in '83) and a bunch of concerns such as, US not producing as many scientists and engineers as other countries (oh...so this concern is around for some time now!) and how MBA's get more money and get valued higher than engineers and scientists (I do agree with him on this point...25 yrs hence the MBA hype has only grown further). What you may possibly get by reading this is the perspective that existed during that time.
