I have read all the books in this well researched series and have enjoyed them all. However, the author really likes to "refresh the reader's memory". As the series progresses, it becomes more hindersome to the storyline when the characters "remember" what happened several books ago. It can take up several pages at a time with things that you already read. I have begun just skimming though those parts in order to jump ahead to the new stuff.

In the first couple of books in the series, I really enjoyed reading the notes, as they provided extra information about the time period that was not included in the story. However, in this book the notes are mostly just source information and again, what happened in the previous books in the series.

If you want to learn more about the Revolutionary War and the building of the American Nation, I would recommend this series.

The whole series of books are fabulous!! I love learning more about the Revolutionary War era and Mr. Carter was very good at doing research on this subject. He makes it very interesting adding fictitional families to create human interest.

I enjoy these books and have learned a lot about the American Revolution. There is some repetition in the books, but for the most part they are good.

I think this series brings those first years to life while keeping historical integrity. Most people have little understanding of those years, this series changes that so that the student of history instead will be amazed that this country came into existence.

I like Ron Carter's Prelude to Glory series. It's about how our country got started (USA). It answers the questions you didn't have time for in grade school. It is fiction based on historical facts. I may even buy the hardback books. Right now it's on my kindle.

Although this is historical fiction, I learned so much about history I never had heard before. It is easy reading, and it is not hard to keep track of the characters. It is also easy to pick up the book and remember where you were even though you have not read it for awhile. I would highly recommend this series.
