Book Description

March 1, 2009
At last, a gardening book that digs past the dirt, reaching down to the soul of gardening. THE IMPERFECT GARDEN follows one gardener's journey as she discovers her trash heap of a garden, unearths bulbs and seedlings buried by time and neglect, and carves out a whimsical landscape dotted by decades of successful and failed gardening experiments. Expanding on the candid reflections of the author's gardening column, THE IMPERFECT GARDEN explores the elements of determination, disappointment, and surprise that shaped both her landscape and her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a gardener, March 5, 2009
This review is from: The Imperfect Garden (Paperback)
I haven't read this book and I'm not a gardener... yet. But I have been reading Sara's gardening columns in the Metro and her writing is like a garden itself: working at many levels at once. Frankly I read her column for its philosophy more than anything. She lives among nature as a participant. I recommend her writing to everyone, it's startlingly different, you will see your garden and all of nature with a different perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars A strong choice, July 11, 2009
This review is from: The Imperfect Garden (Paperback)
Gardening is more than a hobby for some. "The Imperfect Garden" explores the spiritual side of gardening from author Adina Sara's perspective; she finds much comfort in restoring her backyard garden and turning it into something beautiful. With moving anecdotes, and full color gardening photos, Sara may inspire others to create their own garden and embrace it, making "The Imperfect Garden" a strong choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Celebration of Imperfection, March 8, 2009
This review is from: The Imperfect Garden (Paperback)
As much as this book is about gardening, it is a book that reflects a philosphy of life, celebrating creativity, spontaneity, and serendipity. Gardeners and non-gardeners will love this book. It is at once funny, heartwarming, and wise. - Joan Alexander
