5.0 out of 5 stars Good value
These registers are well made and have a very nice finish on them. We have a light colored carpet and it blends well with it. The original registers are the "contractor designer" series (how's that for a misnomer)? It gives the house a nice upgraded look. The price is the best I've found anywhere.

I read other reviews here before making this purchase. As soon as I opened up the package a piece of metal fell off. I thought maybe it was some kind of piece used to adjust the register to fit within the duct receipt until I discovered that it was actually a piece of the register itself. These registers are built fairly well. They are made of just thick enough steel to not be crushed if an adult treads on them occasionally but nowhere near as sturdy as a cast iron register. The dampers are just held in place with bent metal tabs, but are secure and hold their place when adjusted at part closed positions. They are much better than the economy models at the big box home improvement stores but not as good as the standard grade registers of years past. I would prefer one just a bit sturdier, but they are a good register for the price.

I only gave four stars because it would be nice if it sealed a little better at full close and because the color of the picture is deceiving. The almond color is lighter than the picture, looking more of an off-white. Still, they look alright in contrast to the almond carpet I installed them in.

These were very sturdy floor registers, and just the right color to disappear into the carpeting. They were also much less expensive than the hardware store!

I read other reviews here before making this purchase. As soon as I opened up the package a piece of metal fell off. I thought maybe it was some kind of piece used to adjust the register to fit within the duct receipt until I discovered that it was actually a piece of the register itself. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the metal itself was slightly bent and had come off of the side of the register. Amazon packaged the item well but the registery packaging itself isn't reinforced so I can only conclude that it was possibly bent at the manufacturer's facility. The registry doors needed to be wiggled before the top registry handle would cooperate. I did manage to straighten the metal out and refasten it to the register with some pliers.
