About the Author
Dr.Lutfu Tokatlioglu who is an expert on the history of the Ottomans, is a professor at Madrid Autonoma University since 1983 and teaches graduate and doctorate courses on the history of the Ottoman Empire.He knows eight languages. His doctorate thesis was realized about the relationship between the Ottoman and the Spanish Empires during XVIII and XIX centuries at Madrid Complutense University. He has studied and researched on the Ottoman Empire archives since 1994 for his published book.

This book is super composed and expresses to the reader a better understanding of the history of the universal Ottoman Empire. This was a unique civilization, a diversity of many nations, its own language, religion and customs. The author knows his history and subject matter well through his extensive research and document findings. His studies will also help us to understand the origin of one of the oldest territorial acquisitions of the Ottomans that can relate to the present issues in the Balkans and in the Middle East. It is a travesty that this book is not translated into the English language so that many could read and be aware of the present day struggle for power in the Balkans and in the Middle East.

I have just read the book on the Ottoman Empire written in Spanish. It gives the reader a wide spectrum of exclusive history over a period of 7 centuries dealing with 33 nations from the Balkans to the Middle East. The Ottomans created a unique, universal and powerful empire of their own. The author has given us documents & researched information that can be helpful in understanding todays issues in the Balkans & the Middle East. It is an excellent well written book of history and I recommend it highly.

The best history book I have read this year. Excellent research and a real masterpiece. If one wants to read in spanish the best history book, must get this one..I really suggest and recommend..
