Five reasons to buy this book:
1. This book is well writen, so easy reading.
2. Every topic is fully covered and can be easily understand.
3. Every sample is described in detail with highlighting all significant lines in commands output.
4. All parameters of each command are explained many times (so you don't have to search the book for the first entry).
5. 45$ for 900+ pages (and nearly 100 pages of online available appendixes) is a great bargain.

P.S. From time to time (often in chapter 7) you'll find the prase "... is beyond the scope of this book". Some can consider this as a drawback, others - as an invitation to learn more.

Don't let the number of pages fool you; this book is straight forward and intelligently organized versus the long winded fluff typical of an Odom book. And this book can be used as a reference after you have passed the ROUTE exam, along with the "cookbook" type books that are out there. Use it along with the study sites that let you take multiple-choice, sims, simlets and give you the ability to retake the answers that you have just missed to aid your memory and increase repetitions. There is no accompanying CD trying to market you Boson software or other products either.

I'm reading this book day by day,surely this is a good book,easy to understand,many example to add clarity about technical concept.Good topology are presented,by network simulator i can implement my lab to deep understand my new IT knowledge!

As a CCNA, I have read several books ranging from "Network Fundamentals", "Routing Protocols and Concepts", "LAN Switching and Wireless", to "Accessing the WAN". After I read this book it its entirety, studied other materials, and practiced with hands on lab by using GNS3 and my home lab, I passed the CCNP ROUTE exam.

This book was perfectly detailed. It didn't go to in-depth, but always provided enough examples and explanations for me to walk away with a new concept and feel confident. I also took the Cisco Netacad course that corresponded to this book, and the book went perfect with the class!

Out of all of the Cisco books I have read and studied, I am excited to say that this is a great example of how a Cisco book should be written! All of the simple explanations, configuration examples, and introductions to new topics kept the book interesting and never felt stale.

Definitely worth 5 stars! Wish she authored the SWITCH book!

There are few chapter breakdowns and they are around 160 pages each. It makes it demotivating to read though technical text page after page when you wanna check off chapters off your reading list and it's such a slog to make it to the end of each chapter.

Also Review Q&A at end of chapter would be cool. There is a few pages of key points at the end of each chapter. Good examples and explanations nevertheless, a good prep book.

I have been desperate to get this book because is so complete about all the things that we need to handle to certificate of CCNP.

I am a Dominican student of Networks, and This book has help me to get so much knowledge.

About the packet,when i received it was perfect, in NEW CONDITIONS, no problems with that.

i'm greatly enjoying this book!!! it explains things in clear and concise language that is easily understood. after going through Wendell Odom's CCNA study guide, I find this book so much more enjoyable to read. Not a big fan of Wendell's writing style but this book is just a joy to read. the topics are quite daunting but the writing style of this book is plain and simple. the writing style of this book makes you want to read more and dig deeper

if you can combine this book with Jeremy Cioara's CCNP Route videos then Wendell Odom's book it should position you in line for the CCNP exam. not sure if this book is enough for the CCNP exam but its certainly a good
starting point.

I had difficulty following initially; at times it would feel like all bullet points but has good flow.
Once I got the flow, I was able to follow better. She is a good technical writter.
Good:
. covers all chapters in depth
. It is not just pages from Cisco's web site
. Repeating the same point 2-3 times in different words to make it a point

I have read some reviews that says that this book does not come with lab guides, but I have not felt that way

Could be better:
. if there was a single network that was used on all demonstration, it would make understanding easier. There are times when this is not possible, but that method was not even attempted

This book is well written and easily understandable. It doesn't quite cover all of what you will see on the exam, but what it does cover is done very well. All in all an indispensable book for someone wanting to pass the test, but don't take the test reading this alone or without doing labs!

Great tool for preparing for the Route exam. It looks forbidding but when you dive in, you'll find familiar environment that was not deep enough in CCNA. I combined it with CBT nuggets and definitely buy the Lab manual. This book does not have Labs.

Every one has unique way for going through the learning process, i find it helpful to get the topics under control with CBT nuggets -to kind of have a mental view of how much engineering u will get to - then hit the book.

This will give the opportunity to get both detailed knowledge you'll need for the exam and hands on experience necessary to pass the simulations.
