This review is from: CCNP Implementing Secured Converged Wide-Area Networks (ISCW 642-825) Lab Portfolio (Cisco Networking Academy) (Paperback)
I passed the ISCW test about 2 weeks ago w/ a 915/1000. The number one thing I like about this book is that for the various IPSec configurations they have you do both: CLI & SDM. Let me assure you than in the real world, SDM can do some very ugly things to an otherwise pristine running-config. Another important feature of this book is that explains basic VRF, which is required for MPLS running on BGP...and YOU WILL be asked about this on the exam. I had 3 questions about Route-Distinguisher commands. The section on IPS is a little lacking. I'd recommend you go to cisco's site and download the SDM User Guide. Specifically SDEE event types, severity levels, configurable actions [ie. denyFlowInline], etc. VERY IMPORTANT: be sure you use SDM 2.3. The reason is as of 2.4 cisco has migrated away from the "inspect" style syntax [which is what you are quized on] to the zone-based firewall syntax. Its certainly a good idea to know both for real-world application, but for the exam, it is the "inspect" syntax that you will be quizzed on.
