Book Description

Does your company think and act ahead of technological change, ahead of the customer, and ahead of the competition? Thinking strategically requires a company to face these questions with a clear future image of itself. Implementing a Lean Management System lays out a comprehensive management system for aligning the firm's vision of the future with market realities.

Based on hoshin management, the Japanese strategic planning method used by top managers for driving TQM throughout an organization, Lean Management is about deploying vision, strategy, and policy at all levels of daily activity. It is an eminently practical methodology emerging out of the implementation of continuous improvement methods and employee involvement. The key tools in the text build on the knowledge of the worker, multi-tasking, and an understanding of the role and responsibilities of the new lean manufacturer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have for a Lean Management Library, April 2, 2007

This review is from: Implementing a Lean Management System (Corporate Leadership) (Paperback)
Thomas Jackson's reference is *the* book to have when considering lean concepts beyond the manufacturing floor. As part of the automotive lean business work group in 1998-2000, I surveyed many different reference guides and this is by far the best. Filled with many diagnostics, surveys, and concepts it is a "must have" for any lean practitioner's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hoshin and Hansei - executives need this book to start their Lean journey, December 1, 2011

This review is from: Implementing a Lean Management System (Corporate Leadership) (Paperback)
A good book with a workable baseline for building a Lean Management System. Not focused on theory and philosophy, it provides specific instructions, details and starting points to begin driving change into the structure/operation of an organization at the executive level.
