5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book for Erp implementations.
This book provides excellent overview of Implementation progess without specific details about database and platform. Most of the information provided is standard information for implementing any ERP projects.Every member of the implementation team - from entry-level accounting clerk through MIS staff to executive sponsors - will benefit from reading this book. In short...

1.0 out of 5 stars Inadequate and out-of-date
PeopleSoft has changed dramatically since this book was written. Even if the book were up-to-date, it is so lacking in detail that it would provide little benefit.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book should not be sold, April 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
This was a marginal effort when it was released back in 1997. It sold only because it was one of the few PeopleSoft books on the market. Now that it's old, it is simply sad that any retailers are still selling this, or moreover that the publisher (Manning) is still pushing it.

Calling this book merely bad would be generous.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Basic, September 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
The book provides a very basic overview of an implementation of a packaged application. In this case "PeopleSoft" is used as the drawcard. There is nothing new in the book to anyone who has been involved in any sort of packaged implementation.... disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars General ERP Implementation Guide, October 29, 2000
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
This is more of a general ERP installation guide than it is a a book about PeopleSoft financials specifically, which is actually a good thing since the PeopleSoft information is now dated. This book was written with PeopleSoft versions 7.0/7.5 in mind; the new PeopleSoft version 8.0 is a very different product. Still, the general ERP information is still valid and accurate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of a PeopleSoft Financials Implementation, September 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
This book is a nice to have for team members and managers. It does a good job of explaining all that goes into a typical vanilla PeopleSoft implementation. Although the book lacks specific release information, it does a good job of explaining "what to expect technically" to a non-technical audience. If you are a heavy technical (PeopleSoft/ERP) person (like me), the book does a good job of explaining the functional concepts behind PeopleSoft.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is terrible, I know... I'm a peoplesoft consultant, February 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
I consult with peoplesoft and I think this book is very bad. It has nothing much to do with peoplesoft, just implementation of financials. No detail or direction on how to...just talk to fill pages. a terrible waste of money. zero stars

4.0 out of 5 stars The Book is a must read for peoplesoft beginners, November 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
If you rea going to learn people soft or have started implementing a peoplesoft project then this book would make the theoretical implementations of the project very clear. Your fundamentals on how erp packages are designed will be crystal clear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Guide to Implementation from 50,000 feet!, March 18, 1998
This review is from: Implementing PeopleSoft Financials: A Guide for Success (Hardcover)
If your are about to begin your first experience in implementing a large scale client/server application like PeopleSoft then this book is probably a must read for you. The book does a very good job of covering all of the issues you will face and need to plan for during your pending implemetation. If you are looking for detail (below the 50,000 foot level) then you will probably be disappointed.
