The explanation of R/3 that kick starts this book is highly approachable, detailing the philosophical and technical underpinnings of this system. The other three loosely constructed sections deal almost exclusively with the complexity of an R/3 implementation. Throughout these portions, the authors emphasize the importance of identifying and establishing project goals, a point liberally illustrated by various case studies. Additionally, a terrific glossary is tucked away in the final pages, as are four appendices. These appendices cover data-modeling and relational-database concepts, content and structure of the SAP data dictionary, and the development of Advanced Business Application Programming/4GL (ABAP4). --Sarah L. Roberts-Witt --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

This book is only for people of no implementation experience,

This review is from: Implementing Sap R/3 : How to Introduce a Large System into a Large Organization, 2nd Edition (Hardcover)
This book will serve well for managers who are planning to or going through their first R/3 implementation project. However, you probably would not need it any further after you have succeeded in your first project. Realistic people and organisational issues for project management are presented with limited technical detail.

Good Book!,

This review is from: Implementing Sap R/3 : How to Introduce a Large System into a Large Organization, 2nd Edition (Hardcover)
I think this is still one of the best reference books for implementing SAP, particularly the change management aspects. The 2nd edition had many updates that should negate older, more negative comments.

A must read for SAP R/3 implementation managers,

This review is from: Implementing Sap R/3 : How to Introduce a Large System into a Large Organization, 2nd Edition (Hardcover)
If you can read only one book on R/3 implementation, this is the one. Clear, to the point and well organized, Bancroft describes the classic SAP implementation. Good insights into choosing the implementation team. Even with the advent of ASAP, this is the best on the subject.
