Another small DeBono book,
By Bas Vodde (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Importance of Possibili... (Paperback)
"The importance of possibiliti" is another very small (60 pages, 1 hour reading at most) book by Edward DeBono. This book is about keeping option open and to think in as much possibilities before coming to a decision. Its about creating these possibilities not just out of data but out of imagination. Its about saying nearly unimaginable things and keeping these possibilities open until you make the final decision, but not closing the door early. The book is really small, like some other later DeBono books (H+ comes to mind), the book is few pages, large letters and much empty space. The message is good, but little --> Think about possibilities and keep them just before making decisions. I'd probably give it a three star rating from content, its ok... but no major insight or exceptional content. But, as with some of the other later DeBono books, the book seems to be more of a marketing book than a real book. It promotes DeBonos earlier work in a way that strongly suggest to buy them. Now, I do like DeBonos work, but I dislike getting too much promotion and less content. For that reason, I guess 2 stars would be more appropriate. I had a moment of not doing much and came across a bookstore, picked this up and read it. I found that worth it. Would I recommend it? Nah, only in that particular situation, but definitively not a book I'd recommend to purchase "on purpose". Except, of course, if you are a DeBono book collector ;) |
