Unfortunately this cable did not work for me. I should have listened to the things that I read online and should have known that you cannot make a Firewire 1394 to USB connection. They are just not made to connect with each other. Oh well, lesson learned. At least I did receive the product, unlike the guy above!

Item took a a long time to get to me & I had to email for shipping information. After all that the connection doesn't work. Good thing it didn't cost too much. Total waste!

Never received my order so hard to review. Contacted this seller and still no product. Other customers who have purchased this product say it is awful, so I would stay 100 feet away from it.

I purchased a new laptop and it didn't come with firewire. My video camera uses firewire, so I really hoped this would be the solution. However, this cord is useless. And yes, I tried it on other devices with other pcs. Its junk.

I should have listened to the content I had read about converting USB to Firewire via a cable... in a nutshell, it can't be done. This product is a scam by getting you to pay a few dollars for a product that can't and won't work and then you're stuck with it because it costs more to ship it back than you would get refunded. Honestly, I can't believe Amazon allows this company to sell on their site.

I bought it for my Cannon Mini DV to use with the MacBook (since they don't have a firewire port) and it was never recognized by my computer. Don't waste 5dls, get yourself candy instead.

Having just acquired a new desktop computer that didn't come with a Firewire connector, I thought I'd try this cable out so I could connect my Sony camcorder (with Firewire) to the computer (with only USB). Doesn't work.

My guess is that the protocols for Firewire are simply so different than USB that plugging a Firewire device into a USB port just doesn't work.

I would have returned it, but the cable was only about $2 so it's not worth returning it. It'll sit in a drawer until I throw it away.

Note that I ended up buying a Firewire card for the new desktop computer and the camcorder connects perfectly now.
