This review is from: The Impossible Dream: Railway to the Moon; Loma Linda University & Loma Linda University Medical Center (Hardcover)
This book qualifies as one of the most inspirational stories of all time. The title says it all.
A renowned doctor of the time (the turn of the 19th century) voiced his opinion that building a hospital in a place called Loma Linda, California would be as impossible as building a railway to the moon. This book shows how that hospital and adjoining medical university were indeed built, against overwhelming odds. It is not an overstatement to say miracles happened to bring this about. Example: $5,000 arriving out of nowhere, a small fortune at that time, the exact amount needed to push the project forward. More than a century later, Loma Linda Medical Center and University stand as spectacular testimonies to the power of faith, belief and tireless perseverance. It is a book that tells a story for the ages, surpassing any of the stories in popular contemporary inspirational books like Chicken Soup for the Soul. This book tells the story of a truly remarkable achievement.
