A True Vocal Talent Not To Be missed!,
By Anthony Accordino (Massapequa Park, New York United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Impossible Dream (Audio CD)
Ronan Tynan is a multi-talented individual who is a doctor,an athlete who has won gold medals in disabled competion and set world records and an author. His greatest gift however, is a voice that can stop one in their tracks. Known as one of the celebrated Irish tenors, this solo outing proves that he is the real deal. The sound quality of this live recording made in Dublin really is a dream come true for fans of this opera trained tenor. He sings Irish classics like "Danny Boy", to broadway "The Impossible Dream". He gives such contemporary tunes like "Both Sides Now" and the U2 "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" a whole new deep sound. The orchestra and the London Community Gospel Choir are flawless as is Ronan. Hey, the bottom line is I am a classic rock guy who appreciates good music from all walks of life, and Ronan Tynan makes great music and that is all that matters! Ronan Tynan is truly an artist with a vocal ability that should be heard by all.

Having seen Ronan in person recently in the U.S., I was impressed first and foremost by his singing ability, and second by his stage presence and warmth. He is a special performer and human being. I am proud to be a Ronan Tynan fan.

I think this cd was very good because my mummy listens to it all the time. I think ronan is brilliant singing all the songs. He even sings my favourite, Angel. I think the choir is brilliant and the boy singing on You raise me up is fantastic. It is a brilliant cd. BUY IT!

What Can't He Do ?,
By Charles H Barney "A North Country Boy" (East Amherst, NY United States) - See all my reviews

Ronan Tynan's second solo album is right on the mark - like his first. Both his first album and this one are collections of songs and ballads from every genre - broadway, opera, folk, spititual - and he nails each one ! I guess you could call him a"master interpeter". Recorded before an audience at the Royal Dublin Society, his voice is clean and clear. Although this is not a DVD (yet), you can tell he carries it off without the peacock-strutting characteristic of other big stars who do a live, solo recording. I have no doubt we now have a new major international figure before us. I truly can't think of his peer !

Ronan never disappoints and this new CD of his June concert is no exception. The songs include a wide range from traditional to Joni Mitchell, and his incredible voice does justice to every one. The CD as a whole is almost painfully beautiful. Highly recommended.

Simply Wonderful,
By Lindsay "Florida fan" (Florida) - See all my reviews

This CD is just as great as the more recent "Ronan" CD. I clicked on 3 stars in error. This is a 5++ star album! His voice is sheer perfection, and the songs are wonderful. I also highly recommend the DVD of "The Impossible Dream," even though I didn't care at all for the London Community Choir who sing four songs. Note: The American version of the DVD doesn't have the 25-minute "Dr. Courageous" extra on it that the Irish version does. I saw him in concert last month, and besides having a voice that soars to the rafters, he is warm, funny and endearing.

I am not a fan of this kind of music, but I bought this after hearing a few sound snippets at amazon and WoW! what a find. Excellent song selection, powerful singing, fine music quality for a live recording. Expand your horizons and enjoy. (get this wayno)

ronan tynan is a great role model for adults and children alike. he was born with a deformity and made a decision he would make something of himself, he had a goal and he surpassed it. no one puts as much of their heart into as he. he puts the audience into his songs, he makes us feel he is singing to each one of us individually. HE IS THE GREATEST IRISH TENOR I HAVE EVER HEARD, INCLUDING JOHN MC CORMAC the great irish tenor of the 30's

Ronan always gets so much emotion into his singing! For instance, listen to the last song, "Angel," so very poignant. Or, "You Raise me Up." Wow! And "When I look at You."
This album has lots of feeling-filled phrasings and finales. I was really struck by the way R. sung the last word in "What's Another Year." He made it into a singular statement of the theme of the whole song. It is only ONE WORD but it's replete with anguished desperation! Ronan gives new dynamics to familiar songs that you may have felt tired of: "Danny Boy;" and especially Cole Porter's "Night and Day." One new song to me that I liked a lot was "Immigrant Eyes." Also "Musica Prohibita." Listening through lengthy "Life, Love, and Happiness/I still haven't found what I'm looking for" was an unusual musical experience for me because I kept wondering where the words of the song were taking me. Am not sure I'm satisfied where they did eventually take me. Will have to listen to it some more. I thought the orchestral accompaniment throughout the album was outstanding. (Only in "My Irish Molly" the musical shenanigans weren't to my taste.) A very moving album (although my favorite album so far is still "Ronan"). The enclosed pamphlet and album cover include some charming photos of him and his family. I especially like the picture of his mom and dad when they first got married and the quite sweet picture of what looks like Ronan's First Communion. He sure has got some Hobbitty ears. |
