5.0 out of 5 stars music that's like putting on an old pair of shoes..., August 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Impossibles (Audio CD)
One of my all-time favorite albums - between their unpretentious lyrics and not too rude backbeat...If you can't relate completely to at least one of these songs, what do you think you're doing calling yourself a human being? I can't even articulate the greatness of these boys...Listening to the Impossibles is like putting on an old pair of shoes, the kind you learn inside and out...The day they broke up, I felt like I was loosing my best friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars An album to grow up with, October 8, 2006
This review is from: Impossibles (Audio CD)
Nine years ago, I didn't know what ska was, I didn't know what punk was, and I most definitely did not know what good music was. I even knew all the lyrics to Huey Lewis' "Hip to Be a Sqaure." Pathetic. So, when a close friend popped this CD into the stereo, my musical education began. Ever since then, "Impossibles" has been there for me, a good all-purpose musical statement, a reassurance that I wasn't the only comics-and-model-airplanes kid on Earth, and the perfect vade mecum for late-1990s Austin, TX. "Impossibles" is creative, energetic, and always fresh.

Coincidentally, Weezer's blue album was (like most of the reviewers here say of themselves) my other great awakening. Weird. I never thought Impossibles and Weezer sounded all that alike, but I can see it. Similar outlook, similar grinding guitars, but the Impossibles are tinged with ska: tight guitar, dueling vocals, and loads of back beat.

This album has to be heard to be believed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Back 4 The Attack, December 21, 1999
This review is from: Impossibles (Audio CD)
While this album is not as ska like as Back 4 The Attack, it maintains the same Weezeresque sound. If you liked Back 4 The Attack do yourself a favor and pick his one up too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best ska album ever?......quite possibly......, April 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Impossibles (Audio CD)
I have 2 absolutely favorite cds: this one and Weezer. Amazingly enough, they sound a lot alike. But aside from sounding like Weezer, this band is a completely original, beautiful blend of great music, great lyrics, great harmonies....ah, they're just great. My friends and I like to put this one on in the car and "sing" along with it. I know every song by heart but never get tired of this cd and the wonderful emotions it evokes in me. My favorite song from this cd would have to be "Descriptive Essay, 100 Words". Never have lyrics been so beautiful, poetic, and easy to relate to. If you don't own this cd, you are seriously missing out on a lot of catchy ska and a lot of good times. I only wish they hadn't broken up....

5.0 out of 5 stars It Is... The Best..., January 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Impossibles (Audio CD)
Consider for a moment that you haven't heard any good music in your entire life... If you haven't heard this album... you haven't. These guys know how to make good music, from their uncanny talent with instruments to their godly use of vocals and lyrics. This album kept me awake with eyes wide open and left me on my knees crying in my room when I heard they broke up.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish more people knew about them..., December 12, 1998
This review is from: Impossibles (Audio CD)
When I saw these guys in Austin, it was in a skate shop with some clothes racks on the edge of the dance floor. Everybody danced and had a good time, which is exceedingly rare for the music-soaked-n-jaded typical Austin crowd. It was one of the top three concerts I have *ever* seen and in my top five favorite albums.

I just found out (from the other reviews) that these guys broke up. How sad. Fortunately, for those readers who do not own this album and are reading this, you can still snatch it up. Do it and consider yourself lucky.
