If you've stumbled across The Impostor, then you shouldn't hesitate to give it a try. If you already know Ms. Coleman's work, then you probably already know how great this album is.

I was lucky enough to pick up this CD in person, when Ms. Coleman and friends were paying tribute to a local jazz legend in the San Bernadino/Riverside area. The honoree was my uncle, Roger Rickson, who had been teaching and mentoring musicians (especially in jazz) in the area for over 40 years. He influenced countless musicians, and when he passed away in the Summer of 2003, many of them returned to Corona High School for a memorial concert that fall.

I was lucky enough to pick up CDs from several of the featured artists that day, and I still contend that The Impostor was the cream of the crop. And that's saying something, because I discovered some great talents that day, that still get quite a bit of time on my home system and iPod.

Give this CD a whirl, and imagine you are in a smoky jazz club, with Cecilia singing directly at you... wonderful!
