Pete Holmes has quickly become one of my favorite working comedians with his Comedy Central half hour, this album and his podcast You Made it Weird. The title "Impregnated with Wonder" is a line from one of his jokes, but it also very aptly describes Pete's entire comedic disposition. He has an infectious joy about his performance. He is like a giant puppy doing stand-up comedy, and I mean that in the best way possible. He has the general life enthusiasm of Chris Hardwick and the general silliness of Paul F. Tompkins (especially the silliness of Tompkins riffing). I'm also a huge fan of comics that are more prone to going to dark places like Louis CK, Bill Burr or Marc Maron, but I find myself going back to Impregnated with Wonder more often than the albums of those other artists because not only is it hilarious, it's just FUN to listen to. If a Doug Stanhope album is the Requiem for a Dream of comedy, where you watch it once and it's really great but you don't want to watch it again for a while, Impregnated with Wonder is like the 40-Year-Old Virgin of stand-up albums. It's just as much fun the 5th time as the first.

It's hard to describe why I love this album so much. Is it how approachable this guy seems? Is it his goofy style? Is it the fun dad? I listened to this for a straight week after I bought it and to this day I'll pop it in every so often and laugh just as hard. This is easily worth your time and money.

I had known who Pete Holmes was long before I actually picked up this album. I had heard him many times on Doug Loves Movies and from there heard about his own podcast You Made it Weird and began listening to that as well and I just loved him and his style of humor and what a great guy he is and I had heard bits of pieces of his stand up on his podcast and liked what I heard so I bought the album and was very happy I did.

I was laughing quite hard most of the time and I love his style and delivery. Many bits had me laughing so hard my sides hurt. The one about being a kid being terrible was hilarious and I identified with that one quite a bit. My only complaint was it seemed a bit short but that is probably on me to be honest. The run time is about a hour and it's likely that I was just enjoying it so much the time seemed to fly. I can't wait for Pete's next album and encourage folks to check out his podcast and this album. It's all great stuff.

This comedy album is really funny. Pete Holmes wins me over with both his unique personality and set of jokes. Easily one of my favorite albums of 2011. I would put it in my top 10 albums I've heard. If you end up liking this, look up You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes. He "interviews" other comedians. They pretty much just sit around and talk about anything and everything. Listen to it! I was shocked that this album only had a couple reviews. Go listen to it!

Pete Holmes is a great jolly comedian. His comedy act can be described as very exuberant good-natured romp. The closest comparison for me would be Brian Reagen; he has a cheerful disposition, semi-clean material, and always... always upbeat. The way he plays with words and premises can be similar to Patton Oswalt and his silliness does remind me of Paul F. Tompkins, but he simultaneously radiates/hurls/projects jokes at the audience. His energy is infectious and his outlook on life (from what I can see from his jokes) are that of an optimist. He seems to being playing throughout his act, enjoying himself as much as the audience, if not more. His material takes the funny positive outlook on media/internet culture, emotions, and annoying human interactions. He isn't quite my cup of tea, but I enjoy his happy-go-lucky style, word play, and his genuine comedic outlook. Also, I dinged this CD because there was an obvious visual jokes that are lost to audio owners.
