This review is from: The Impressionists (Art Masters) (Library Binding)
Part of the six-volume "Art Masters" series, The Impressionists is an illustrated, educational guide ideal for introducing teen and older readers. Color artwork on every page reveals the history of the Impressionist style, the identities of the famous French artists who pioneered it, and their legacy on subsequent creators. "In 1855, Paris hosted the Universal Exposition, which featured the largest exhibition of painting ever seen at that time. It exposed the future Impressionists to artists like Gustave Courbet, who inspired them to look at art in new ways. The old medieval Paris was a thing of the past, and as far as the Impressionists were concerned, so was traditional art." A top-notch resource for learning and discovery, enthusiastically recommended for school and library children's collections along with the rest of the informative and enriching "Art Masters" series.

You might be familiar with the earlier Peter Bedrick editions of these books, which were published in the mid-1990s. The series has been revised, making the books more accessible to younger readers.
