This CD is amazing. I have the other 2 Lunatic Soul CDs and wasn't really impressed with them. This one really hit me between the eyes upon the first listen. I even caught myself exclaiming "wow" out loud as I listened to the first track for the first time. The album is a sonic journey - I can't think of any other way to desribe it. It's unique - I'm at a loss to think of another artist or album to compare this too.

Since he is a bass player, of course the bass is featured. Yet it isn't a "bass player's album"; he's not using this as a showcase for his bass playing abilities. There are wonderful synth sounds, piano, acoustic guitar. He also sings, though there are no lyrics - it's an instrumental album. I have to go back to the previous 2 albums to see if maybe I missed something.

His usual band, Riverside, is one of my favorites. This isn't a Riverside-like album though; it is very different. Think Steven Wilson's solo albums vs. Porcupine Tree albums...very different, but good nonetheless.

This is an absolutely fantastic album if you have any kind of decent system to listen to it of, it will show off it's capabilities magnificently. I work in a high end hi-fi store and have access to some top-notch equipment, and this recording is exceptional. The first track blows you away, with the following tracks all being less aggressive but far more beautiful....my absolute favorite part of the album is the middle 2 1/2 minutes of track 6, being reminiscent of Mike Oldfield's tubular bells....a must for any audiophile!

By Lunatic Soul II, I had been convinced that Lunatic Soul was one of the most amazing, most soul-satisfying emissaries of music that I had ever heard. Mariusz Duda's primary group, Riverside, is my favorite band, and his solo projects confirmed my adoration for his musicianship. However, then he announced the unexpected Lunatic Soul: Impressions. I was ecstatic to say the least. This album fails in no way. It is the icing on cake for the other two albums. This cohesive unit will remind you of the other two albums---you can almost pinpoint where in the storyline each Impression belongs. That said, Impression VI is by far my favorite. I believe it to be the best song of 2011. The originality, creativity, and resourcefulness of Duda in this entire album still make me stand in awe---but especially in Impression VI. Knowing the story, this instrumental song brought tears to my eyes. Outstanding work, Duda. However, each and every Impression on this album is an achievement. The piano, the bass, the vocals, the various unique instruments (especially the Book and the Sea), and the overall composition are all of the highest pedigree. Also, the two remixes are very adept, although I do prefer the originals (it is difficult to improve upon perfection). That being so, I often catch myself humming the remix versions more often than the originals. Do yourself a favor---get this album and immerse yourself. Duda is truly a master of music: I can argue no less.

This CD is minimalist compared to the first 2 Lunatic Soul. They were like a matched pair.
The first songs here are instrumentals and lack the smooth charm of Duda's voice. They are not really even songs, but are "impressions"
Remixes are always dicey when the originals are so good.
