5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting passionate and sublime!
I love love love this album!!! The upbeat tunes are exhilarating and the ballads are soulful and serene. Piano is my favorite instrument so this CD really spoke to me. I'm fairly new to acoustic Jazz, but would love to hear more music in this style.

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointed
As a a fan of smooth jazz (contemporary jazz, C-jazz) since the beginning, I've long been a fan of Bob Mamet, whose 3 CDs from the early and mid 90's helped define the genre. "Adventures in Jazz" (which took me years to find a used copy), "Signs of Life", and probably the best CD of all, "Night Into Day" (a number of cuts get a lot of play on XM's Watercolors channel),...

This album is phenomenal! I was a fan of Bob Mamet's previous albums but on this new one he takes things to another level entirely. The sheer power and beauty he brings to his music transcends anything I've heard in Jazz in the last few years. The compositions are original and intelligent, but at the same time fun to listen to, and the the level of musicianship is amazing. Here's hoping more artists take a cue from this album.

This is a very cool album. I originally heard it at a friend's house and had to ask about it. It flows beautifully. This album is a beautiful addition to anyone's jazz collection. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jazz for the Young and young at heart, March 11, 2010

I loved this album! Its real JAZZ but melodic. The first tune"impromptu' HOOKED me, right away, although "Cat's on the Roof" is another favorite. But the real gem for me is "Keziah" it touched a cord in me, bringing me back to my Eastern European heritage. Anyone who longs for this sound and style will take to it immediately.

And any Jazz fan will love this album.

I was very impressed with this CD. I am a long admirer of Mr. Mamet's other CD's, but this was more versatile and upbeat in my humble opinion and my husband and I listened to it a couple of times just because other noise got in the way of the pure music. His best yet!

As a a fan of smooth jazz (contemporary jazz, C-jazz) since the beginning, I've long been a fan of Bob Mamet, whose 3 CDs from the early and mid 90's helped define the genre. "Adventures in Jazz" (which took me years to find a used copy), "Signs of Life", and probably the best CD of all, "Night Into Day" (a number of cuts get a lot of play on XM's Watercolors channel), were among the best smooth jazz piano albums out there. All of a sudden, there was nothing from the artist. I searched the Internet for news of what Mamet was doing, with no answers.

Finally, when I got word that he had a new album, I jumped at the chance to get it from Amazon. After receiving it and listening a few times, I must rate it "Somewhat OK". Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed with it. Mamet has gone more mainstream jazz and no longer has the sound that he had on the previous CDs. His play is still very good, and the work of his other trio members, Darek Oles (bass) and Joe La Barbera (drums) is more than competent. But it's just not the Bob Mamet I always enjoyed.

If you're a Bob Mamet fan and want this for your collection, by all means get it. If you're not (but are a c-jazz fan), track down the previous CDs. You'll be much better for it. Hopefully, Mamet will revert to his earlier style in future albums.
