About the Author

Aircraft was Roger Williams' first love, and he joined the de Havilland Aircraft Company where he quickly added motorcars to his list of prime interests. During the ensuing six years he not only completed his apprenticeship and studies, but also built two Ford-based specials. and in 1986 he started his own consultancy business, which allowed him to restore numerous MGBs, a Triumph TR6 and a Triumph Stag, and to write several MGB and Triumph TR books.

This review is from: How to Improve Triumph TR2-4A (Paperback)
Anyone working on or even thinking about tuning, tweaking and improving their 4-cylinder TR needs to read this book! It's the best overview yet. It nicely complements the restoration books by Williams and Piggott, and the Competition manuals by Kastner, and the old tuning manual by Vizard.

I would like to see more, larger and better illustrations, some are unclear. There are a few inaccuracies, or perhaps it would be more proper to say a few "disputable" statements of fact. Still, there is a wealth of useful and detailed info that a TR enthusiast simply won't find elsewhere.

Hopefully for his next edition Williams will make an extended visit to the U.S., interview enthusiasts, vendors, manufacturers, tuners and historical figures here, and then include what he finds. After all, the vast majority of TRs were exported to the U.S., making it a far larger marketplace for his book than his native England!
