-12.75 to -10.75 in 2 1/2 months!,
By Creative Writer (Arlington, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
I started doing these eye exercises on June 1, 2000. After a week of very gently doing the recommended progressive myopia booster sequence listed in the book, I was unable to wear my strongest power contacts and glasses. It HURT to put them on. So out came my 1994 contacts and glasses. They weren't strong enough, but at least it didn't hurt to wear them. After doing some (not all) of the eye exercises in this book for 2 1/2 months I finally went in to see the optomitrist. The results of the eye exercises were a definite improvement; from -12.75 in the right eye to a -10.75, and -12 in the left eye to -9.75. And this after only doing some of the exercises from this book a half an hour 3 days a week. I can hardly wait to see what happens when I do more of the exercise techniques! Makes me wonder what kind of eyesight I would have had if my eye doctor had prescribed eye exercises at age 8 instead of thick glasses. My only criticism about this book is that explanation of how and why the exercises work would be nice. If you are truly interested in improving your vision, buy this book and use it. It works.

Good book on eye exercise,
By A Customer
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve eyesight. The book is straightforward with complete instructions on the eye exercises. It is true that everyone can improve one's eyesight by doing eye exercise. Although the method does work, it takes time. Don't expect a quick fix. You have to be patient and persistent. I think the book has exaggerated the speed of results. I believe, for someone who has low a prescription, they can improve to see perfectly in a short period of time because I saw a big improvement in my vision for the first 3 months after I did the exercise. However, it levels off. To reduce a high presciption like me, it is slow. In my case, I was -8.75. After exerersing for a year and half, my vision has been reduced to -7. I am still doing it beliving that I will one day, many years from now, do not have to wear contacts.By the way, don't buy the "See Clearly Method" program. It is exactly the same program described in this book but is packaged with additional video/tapes and fancy marketing for over ten times the cost of this book. Buy this book instead.

Natural alternative to glasses: and it works!,
By Kip Bryan (Boston, Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
I had read many books on natural vision improvement and tried many things before I found this book. It gives easy instructions for simple techniques that actually improved my nearsightedness. If you've ever wondered why your vision got worse even when you followed the eye doctor's advice, this book is for you.I'd have preferred literature references or deeper theoretical explanations for some of the techniques, but I can understand that it was meant to be short and sweet. I wish I'd learned this when I was 10!

Great book - It works! But there's a catch...,
By Mica_Wrensong "mica_wrensong" (northeast FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
... Actually, there are two catches:
1) You need the discipline to do the vision therapy (VT) exercises religiously every day, or at least a few times a week. 2) You need an optometrist who will agree to support you and give you progressively undercorrected lenses. (This, of course, takes some $, although optometrists who believe in this technique will probably work with you and offer discounts). I bought this book from an alternative health expo in my city last summer and played around with some of the exercises, but I knew that, although my myopia might stabilize, I wouldn't see any improvement unless I found an optometrist willing to give me undercorrected lenses. I finally found one (to my knowledge he's the only behavioral optometrist in my area), using the following site: http://www.babousa.org/doctors/default.asp I went to my first appointment with him five weeks ago, and he said that my eyes had not changed from my lenses at the time of -5.75 and -5.50 (I believe the exercises up to that point helped to stabilize me). He agreed to undercorrect me to -5.25 in both eyes, if anything to relieve nearpoint stress even if I didn't do VT, and I committed to doing the VT exercises out of this book on my own. I did the exercises for 15 to 30 minutes every evening, and noticed a dramatic improvement in the first two weeks, after which I stabilized. I know this because the book instructs you to measure your "blur zone," the point for myopes at which things become blurry, from the bridge of your nose every week to see your progress. I started out at 5-1/2 inches. After two weeks, I was at 6-3/4 inches - an improvement of 1-1/4 inches! My follow-up appointment wasn't for another three weeks after that, and during that time, I didn't see any further improvement in blur zone measurement, although I continued doing the exercises. This past Thursday, I went back to my optometrist, and he said that I was seeing 20-20 through my new lenses, and thought I might even be a little over-corrected now. It seems the reason I stopped improving after two weeks was that I had already reached the best I could with the lenses I had. He has undercorrected me again, this time more aggressively, to -4.5. I have a follow-up with him again in about a month. I don't know how far I can get with this, and I know that eventually I will reach a "plateau." However, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to continue improving over the long term if I stick with the exercises. Maybe it will be a year, maybe two, but I'm determined enough to continue doing them. Even if I stop improving, the exercises, as the book states, are just plain good for the health of your eyes, whether you intend to improve your vision or not. I highly recommend this book and its exercises to anyone who is interested and serious about improving their vision naturally. Here's one final tip: I think all of the exercises helped me immensely, but the single one that I could tell was working as I was doing it was the "blur zoning." Placing a detailed object, such as a simple picture, *just inside* my blur zone, even moving it very slowly just into my clear zone, and then back over the "threshold" into my blur zone, and gently looking at it and allowing my eyes to adapt to it helped the most, I think. This process takes "baby steps," so if you choose to do this, stick with it and be patient. Good luck!

This book will revolutionize the optometry industry, if read,
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
This book is very outspoken about the inadequate practices that's going on in the optometry industry. Eye doctors do not want people to know what you will learn in this book, for they fear that they will go out of business. Shortsighted thinking.I've already recommended this book to over 20 people among families and friends. One friend, after only 2 weeks of doing the exercises, noticed that he was able to read the fine print on the shampoo bottle while showering. Excited, he went to his eye doctor for a re-examination. The doctor said that there was a dramatic reduction of the myopic state of his eye. His new prescription was reduced by .75 in both eyes. The left was reduced from -3.00 to -2.25 and the right eye was reduced from -2.50 to -1.75. In my case, after 3 months of exercises, my objective myopic measurement reduced from -2.25 in the left eye to -1, and -2.00 in the right eye to -1. When I discovered vision therapy I was outraged, because I particularly asked my eye doctor on several occasions if there's anything that he can recommend that will prevent my eyes from getting worse, and he said "No". That is the same doctor I went back to for a re-examination because I wanted to confront him with the issue. He attempted to give me a referral to a behavioral optometrist, but I told him that I wanted him to examine my eyes to see the improvement I got by using the AVI Method, the Bates Method, and the Janet Goodrich Methods. While examining my eyes, he admitted that my vision had improved significantly to 20/70. It was about 20/400 progressing to 20/800. You'll never regret reading this book. If you use glasses or know ANYONE who uses glasses, please tell about this book. People should not have to pay to go blind or to be kept in ignorance. Doctors are here to help us get better nor worse. This book helps your vision get better. Finally, direct ALL of your friends and relatives to a behavioral optometrist. They are the ones who deserve to be paid, because they are trying to get you off glasses not hooked on it. This is not the end! When I get my vision back to 20/20 there's going to be a big noise in the land regarding the practice of optometry. I will help the doctors who wrote this book tell the whole world the truth about the practice of traditional optometrist and the alternative methods available

THIS BOOK IS AMAZING,
By A Customer
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
I bought this book a while back whilst still in london. This book is absolutley amazing. The information is accurate and concise. I was at -4.25 in each eye and went to -3.00 in a month, just by doing the excercises for 30 minutes daily! I know others with worse conditions who have done the excercises for 2 hours a day and improved dramatically (-6 to -2 in 6 weeks! ) Also once reading this information I actually had a discussion with my optometrist- He eventually admitted that it was possible using the information in this book that someone can fix their eyesight! BUY THIS BOOK BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, USE IT!

important info, highly recommended,
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
This book is informative, interesting, and to the point. It is easy to read with no fluff. Hence the reader can grasp basic concepts and start doing the eye improving methods immediately.
Vision therapy is not just eye exercises. It includes correct eyesight habits. Once you understand how the eye was intended to be used, all of the info in the book will make sense. Furthermore "good eyesight" is much more than just the ability to see near and far. The book will educate you about other traits that are important. I only wish that the author had included some benchmark technique for measuring one's eye condition improvement. My own improvement was revealed when I lost my glasses and had to get a new pair. The optomitrist remarked that my prescription had improved, and asked me if I had been doing anything different. I had been practicing vision therapy for almost a year. That is the first time in my life that my prescription improved. Also my night vision has improved, I can wear my glasses much less than before, and I have been able to diffuse that blurry/dizzy effect when spending lots of time on the computer or reading books for long periods of time. I highly recommend this book for those who want to take an active role in improving their eye condition.

Buy This Book!,
By Walker In The Woods (Missouri, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
I have had this book for awhile now but I have been lazy about actually putting a lot of effort into the practice. I can just be lazy. But even so, with the little effort I have put into doing the exercises I have seen my sight improve. To others it might not be anything miracle worthy but to me it means a lot. When I first started I could not even seen the computer screen clearly without my glasses or contacts. Now I can sit at my desk and productively work without them. And the clarity keeps improving. This book teaches you how to see again the proper way and teaches you about the eyes. I have asked a few eye doctors over the years why eye sight fails and they have been honest enough to admit they honestly don't really know. I appreciate their honesty but is this good science? This book gives answers, which you may be surprised to learn are not new just ignored. For the price this book is definitely worth buying. The information on the eyes and the exercises which will make your eyes feel healthier and not so tired and stressed are well worth it even if your eyesight never improves, which I believe if you even try it will. Don't expect fast results though. Progress may be slow, but if you stick with it you just might be well rewarded.

Doing anything takes commitment,
By Alex Wu (Calgary AB Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
This book has a great method for anyone who is interested in improving their vision at all. Just remember that it has taken years in many cases for peoples' vision to worsen to the point that they are at, and it's going to take time (several months at the least) before you're going to see significant improvement. I'm sure that many of the people who have reviewed this book saying they didn't get good results probably took shortcuts and skipped a few of the more difficult or time-consuming exercises. The book is a tool to help you help yourself - just blindly doing the exercises without commitment or confidence won't help you, and neither will taking shortcuts. Follow the techniques carefully and thoroughly and read the entire book through at least twice, carefully. As tedious as it is reading the book and doing exercises, it is necessary if you want to do anything about your vision. It's a programme that you have to integrate into all aspects of your life, and in my experience so far it is taking more than 30 minutes a day - it occupies a bit more than that considering the exercises you are to do on the side. Overall, I have yet to be a better programme, and if you truly care about seeing naturally without your glasses and if you are truly committed to devoting your time and energy to your eyes, this book will surely help you.

Do bother!!,
This review is from: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses (Paperback)
15 years with glasses and lenses, 1998 with strain and headaches all day. A major turning point for me came after buying this book jan 99. I am now rid of the headaches and on my way to get rid of the glasses. Gone down from -3.5 to -2.0.If I had listen to my eye doctor that would have been years of trying different lenses to cure the headaches. I'd already spent one year with no result. My best investment ever! |
