This album could be an historic landmark! Bernie on keys other than electric is mighty intense to say the least;he plays klavier(sp?),baby grand piano, and other instruments with great key sounds.the guests...warren haynes and mike gordon...you've gotta hear it to believe it! bernie takes a track from jazz and shoots it up to the hights of funk gospel in seconds on a few songs! the whole album is mezmerizing indeed.

This is basically Bernie Worrell jamming on some non-electric keys;baby grand piano, clavier, etc. The other musicians are amazing too--you won't be dissapointed! Get Bernie's "Baby Elephants" album too!

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent, May 29, 2010
This review is from: Improvisczario (Audio CD)
Bernie Worrell served as a keyboard player for George Clinton's P-Funk collective. That alone is a major plug for anyone's resume. On Improciszario, he makes an incredibly solid album spilling with surprise.

The album starts with straight hard bop jazz, and you begin settling in for a hard bop gig. This would have been great, given the quality of this first track, "New Boss." But you soon find Worrell is like dad inviting you to go the Shop Rite to buy beans, smiling and taking you on a wild mystery ride through brilliant corners.

The first turned being the jazz/grass of "Up On The Hills,: followed by the 1960s Quincy Jones-ish flute thang, "Bass On The Line." Fuzz bass roulette and organ trio sounds continue Improvisczio.

And it all works, together. What binds the album, which is never, ever one of these "we can do every genre" drone pieces, is the organic sound of this trio and its ability to run the same loose, small club vibe through each track. The production style is consistent; you get the nuance of three guys waling on stage with some solid, simple sketches and flying beautifully off the wall.

Get it.
