5.0 out of 5 stars Bothing Beats This Book
This book farts in the general direction of the anarchist, terrorist and jolly roger cookbooks. Unlike them, this one was created by a bunch of government scientists so not only do the recipes work properly as long as guidelines are followed, but it contains many more recipes and many more techniques for your enjoyment. Remember, if you want a good book about...

1.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete TM31-210
This book is garbage. It's nothing but an incomplete TM 31-210 "Improvised Munitions Handbook" by the US Army. Just get the TM 31-210. I mean literally, this 'Black Book' is a verbatim copy of the first three sections; The Army's has seven sections. There is no reason what-so-ever to buy this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it, October 28, 2010

These books are overpriced copies of the Improvised Munitions Handbook published by the Department of the Army in 1969. The publisher has split the manual into two parts and charges 400% more than the complete manual itself that you can get for between $5-$7 almost anywhere. Do not buy this book!!! Everything contained in Volumes 1 and 2 are straight from the Improvised Munitions Handbook. Get that instead.

IF YOU WANT TO GET A BOOK ON IMPROVISED MUNITIONS THIS IS THE ONLY BOOK YOU WILL EVER NEED.EVERY PAGE IS JAM PACKED WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON THE MANUFACTURE AND USE OF HOMEMADE FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVE DEVICES. THE BEST THING ABOUT IT IS THAT EVERYTHING HAS BEEN TESTED AND VERIFIED AT FRANKFORD ARSENAL SO YOU CAN BE CERTAIN THAT EVERYTHING WILL WORK AS PLANNED IF YOU STUCK TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. UNLIKE THE ANARCHIST COOKBOOK YOU CAN TRUST THIS ONE AS IT WAS WRITTEN BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT UNLIKE WILLIAM POWELL(OF THE ANARCHIST COOKBOOK)

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than most other cookbooks, August 31, 2000
This review is from: Improvised Munitions Black Book Vol. 1 (Paperback)
The contents in this book were origionally tried and tested by the u.s government for the military, so its contents are much safer in terms of stability, and maybe to some degree, safer(although NO pyrotechnics are safe) than other cookbooks. It is NOT intended to be used in practice, but for educational purposes only!. As a pyrotechnician myself, i have found this book to be the best of its kind that i have found to date. Well worth purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like the Anarchy cookbook, only better, September 7, 1999
This review is from: Improvised Munitions Black Book Vol. 1 (Paperback)
The Improvised Munitions blackbook is your first source for military items (such as explosives) and blows away the Anarchy Cookbook and is second to nothing in its area.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full review. A must read!, June 13, 2009

This review is from: Improvised Munitions Black Book Vol. 1 (Paperback)
I spent a few hours reading threw this. It is very well written. First chapter is basic chemicales used and how/where to find them. second chapter is simple bombs and boobytraps using just 3-7 ingredients that most people can find anywhere at home or out in the field. then it gets into stuff that more complicated. It decribes how to make step by step with illistrations, how to store, and how long it will be good for, as well as what not to do with it, it lists all the warnings and even though its kept organized and efficent it is idiotproof(decriptive). I would say a must have for all military personel! far better then any other guide or cookbook Ive read. very well written, you wont need to search threw it, they have the title of the ordence at the top the page and start a new page for the next one. its written out alot like the back of a cake mixure. ingreadents listed with amout needed, next to the the place to can get it from, then the wrning of what not to do with it, below that the written instruction and on the other side of the page illistrated instructions with numbers and words.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ratboy's Review, October 20, 2011

This is a good book about making the basic components of explosives from the ground up. It tells how to make your own ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate etc. using natural products and in a normal kitchen. This book would be of interest to those would-be urban guerillas, and behind-the-lines, deep-cover, survivalist types. I liked this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars I tried making my own 'reactive targets', September 8, 2011

So anyone that is into target shooting has certainly heard of Tannerite.
Its a simple recipe and one i can easily do myself for a huge savings, right?
Well, i ordered all the goodies (you can actually buy this stuff over the internet these days???) and did a little assembly out at my local shooting spot.
what did i get?
Nada. Zero. Zilch.
I even tried some of the other formulas that i had the proper ingredients for and got nothing. I dunno, maybe im retarded and doing something wrong. I re-measured and tried again. Nothin.
Maybe the explosive components i ordered off the internet (lol, that just sounds funny) were not what they should have been.
Maybe the government altered the book to keep bad people from easily finding information they want to do bad things.

Anyways, even though some of the items are only 3 of 4 ingredients one of my chemist friends thinks something is missing from some of the more common ones. Oh well, this is not something i really feel like experimenting with and getting wrong, so i'll let Mr Tanner do the mixing for me.

Oh, the book has other stuff mall ninjas will find interesting too, but i learned all that stuff in boot camp, and the USMC books are much more thorough and expansive.
