5.0 out of 5 stars A Small Taste of The Talent Chronicles September 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
It's hard to believe how much action and adventure Susan Bischoff packed into this short story.

Impulse Control is set at the State School, a place where captured Talents (kids with superhuman abilities) are sent. But with all the guards and cameras constantly watching, it's more like a prison.

Ethan knows there are worse places a Talent can end up. Anderson is proof of this because he's working for the same government who are holding Ethan and his friends hostage. But an uneasy alliance with Anderson might be the only way he can stop more Talents from being hurt or killed. Especially Elle, the cutie he's got a thing for.

We all know how well plans like THAT go which is the fun of Impulse Control.

If you haven't read Bischoff's debut, Hush Money, you can still read Impulse Control if you want to try out her series. And you want more Talent Chronicles, this is a great introduction to some awesome and new characters who are sure to return in future installments.

5.0 out of 5 stars short but awesome September 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
i read this after i finished hush money and i can honestly say i am (almost) more interested in reading about the kids in State school than about the ones outside. This is a short story about what's going on with those kids that get caught by NIAC. I really hope Susan will somehow combine the story of the free kids and the ones locked in state school in the third book. This was a very good short story that i recommend to all the fans of the Talent Chronicles

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, intriguing story January 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I came across this series upon accident. I have to say it was a good thing that I did. All the characters are well written and believable and you get involved with wanting to see no harm come to any of them. I haven't read any of the other novels in the series but I definitely will be after tasting this small sample. Very talented author who knows how to hold a scene. I'd definitely recommend to others.

2.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get into this
I don't know why, but I tried, but couldn't get into this story. Maybe because it is for YA? It was a good premise, but just didn't capture my attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story
Good Book, though short, will be enjoyed by all of those fantasy readers. It also had a cute ending, rather than those abrupt ones that the short stories I've read before had.

More About the Author

Susan Bischoff is an incurable romantic with a soft-spot for superheroes, those larger-than-life characters whose supernatural abilities set them apart from everyone else. Some are loved by all and known by none, some are woefully misunderstood and mistreated by those they serve. Traditionally, the life of the super-powered being seemed to her to be one destined for loneliness, and yet so deserving of a happily ever after.

The Talent Chronicles series, which tells the stories of superhuman characters in a world that fears and persecutes them, was born out of her desire for happily ever after in the superhero realm. For superhero hook-ups! Superhero Romance! These are stories for those who love romantic storylines in television shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Smallville, and in movie series like Batman, Superman, and The X-Men. She's been known to say, "These are stories for people who wished Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor could have worked things out."

Susan lives in Tennessee with her high-school sweetheart husband, a daughter, two cats, and one, big puppy. She loves most everything girly: sewing, knitting, and other needlework crafts, baking, doll collecting, shojo manga, and is particularly fond of things that are pink. Another favorite pastime is replaying the kissing scene at the end of the BBC's North and South.
