A Satisfied Mind,
By
This review is from: The Imus Ranch Record (Audio CD)
"Money Can't Buy Back, All Your Youth When Your Old
A Friend When Your Lonely, Or Peace To Your Soul The Wealthiest Person, Is A Pauper At Times Compared To The Man, With a Satisfied Mind.' Hayes and Rhodes No matter how you view Don Imus, he has an ear for music. He has brought an eclectic mix of country/rock n'roll/folk music, and some of the best singers of those worlds to sing on this DVD. It has been said Don Imus suggested particular songs to these artists, and in most cases he hit gold. Thirteen artists sing their hearts out for the Imus Ranch Project. 'Silver Springs' by Patty Loveless- the old Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac song is perfect for Ms. Loveless-timeless and effortless. "Lay Down Sally" by Delbert McClinton-a fresh take on the old Eric Clapton tune. 'Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys' by Lucinda Williams- Lucinda could sing the phonebook and it would purr- she is magnificent with this Willie Nelson oldie. 'You Better Move On' by Levon Helm- Levon Helm is my hero and his rendition is toe tappin' and finger snappin' good-100% Levon. 'Life Has Its Little Ups And Downs' by Raul Malo-Raul Malo has one of the most mellow voices of today. I have the CD - an underrated singer of our times. 'I Ain t Never' by Little Richard-an old Mel Tillis tune, sung in a new fashion with a down to earth refreshing view. 'What A Difference A Day Makes' by Willie Nelson- a song Willie has not sung before and he puts elegance to the Dinah Washington tune. 'I Don 't See Me In Your Eyes Anymore' by Randy Travis-not his best work. 'You ve Got To Fight For Your Right To Party' by Big & Rich- way out of place here. 'Give Back The Key To My Heart' by Dwight Yoakam-love this rendition. The country twang is sooo right. 'What Happened' by Bekka Bramlett-I had not heard Bekka before this CD- what a gorgeous voice with this mournful tune. 'Welfare Music' by John Hiatt-great voice- John Hiatt is forever a fave-he gives this tune a lift with a toe tappin' quality. 'A Satisfied Mind' by Vince Gill-Porter Waggoner wrote the song and Vince Gill sang it for Imus's Project-lovely and poignant. 'A Satisfied Mind' sums up this CD eloquently. 'But one thing's for certain When it comes my time I'll leave this old world With a satisfied mind But little they know That it's so hard to find One rich man in ten With a satisfied mind ' Highly Recommended. prisrob 09-20-08 Everything Imus: All You Ever Wanted to Know About Don Imus Charlie Rose with Don Imus (April 9, 1997)

Complete circle with this purchase!!,
This review is from: The Imus Ranch Record (Audio CD)
Guess how many artists' would use their own money and time to create a song, record a song and sign off on profits from that song? Don't know?? Well, how 'bout this...ALL of the artists on the Imus Ranch Record did just that!!!!! Every song sung from the heart from every artist on this album is for charity. Here is an album that not only provides enjoyment to the purchaser just to listen to, but it provides even more enjoyment for the knowledge that ALL of the proceeds are going to charity. Complete circle of love. This is the way it is done. Imus and friends have found a way to once again enable all of us to give. Thank you Imus, Thank you artists.

Many Hits, Few Misses,

The first cut, Patty Loveless singing "Silver Spring" sets a high standard for the rest of the CD. Most reach it and some don't but there is not a 'skipper' in the whole album. These great singers are having some fun for a good cause and it shows through. Bless the old blow-hard, Imus, for his efforts to help young cancer patients and their families.
