Rare sections in Brazil,

This review is from: Tom Jobim inedito (Audio CD)
Many years ago Jobim recorded a two-set album exclusively to be distributed as a gift by a Brazilian company. What an act!Needless to say this double set was object of high desire by all of us mortals for many years. This is the double CD issue of that album which contains 24 standards composed by Tom Jobim. That's the reason why its title is 'Inedito', meaning 'unissued'. A very great album.

I purchased Inedito after hearing its fascinatingly different version of Waters of March using female background vocalists on Pandora. I wanted to add more music to my Samba playlist, but only 10 of the songs on this album are what I would call Samba. They include nice versions of most of the standards we all know. The others are slow intimate pieces that are beautifully performed. Still, they aren't what I wanted, and so it's not a five star album for me. But if you like the slow stuff too, you will get your money's worth and lots more. For me, I'm still happy because the 10 songs I really like are still a bargain at the album price. The quality of the recording is excellent.

Ok, firstly I don't speak nor do I understand a word on the CD as it's sung in either Spanish or something. Nonetheless, it's a great listen mainly for the music. It's jazz CD and so if you enjoy Jazz, especially Jazz piano then you sure won't be disappointed. Please note although I say Jazz piano, the CD is NOT a Jazz piano; it's more like a trio with some tracks being a "full" band.
