5.0 out of 5 stars blown away...
it it was possible, i would have given this cd 6 stars... it's been on constant repeat in the background ever since i got this cd the day it came out (i pre-ordered it as soon as i heard word of a new jack johnson cd...gasp!)

i have liked jack for several years, ever since his debut album "brushfire fairytales." since then, he's also come out with "on and on,"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Beach Music
This album is one of my favorites from Jack Johnson. My 2 1/2 old daughter also loves singing to it.

It is great music to listen to and relax while doing household chores, cooking etc... It just puts you in such a happy and relaxed mood. My favorite time to play it is when we're staying at the beach. I highly recommend it..

it it was possible, i would have given this cd 6 stars... it's been on constant repeat in the background ever since i got this cd the day it came out (i pre-ordered it as soon as i heard word of a new jack johnson cd...gasp!)

i have liked jack for several years, ever since his debut album "brushfire fairytales." since then, he's also come out with "on and on," (making this his 3rd) and i honestly would never be able to choose my favorite. he's got a soothing, raspy voice and perfectly harmonizing guitar, and he has such a way with words: he doesn't just write about love (although his love songs will make your heart flutter!) but he also writes about worldly issues that get you thinking.

back to this new cd... wow. if you can't tell by now... i HIGHLY recommend it; it's one of those cds that's good the very first time you listen to it. highlights are "better together," (the tune is infectious and his voice is dreamy) "banana pancakes" (because it's such a cute concept and such a rainy summer day anthem) and "sitting waiting wishing" (which i got addicted to before the release of the cd; the video can be seen on his website, www.jackjohnsonmusic.com)

DEFINITELY buy it... you won't regret it

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album., December 23, 2005

The bottom line boys and girls, is that Jack Johnson is a flat out beast on an acoustic guitar. Every little thing he does on his axe seems perfected. I myself play guitar, and I can only hope to one day be as good as this dude. This album is by far his best. Not to say that "Brushfire Fairytales" and "On and On" aren't good, because they certainly are, but "In Between Dreams" is absolutely amazing.

Better Together-3/5- Not great, but okay. I just think the lyrics are sappy, but of course, the guitar part is good.

Never Know-5/5- My favorite on the whole album. The guitar sounds so amazing, it blows me away every single time. I cannot get tired of this song. Lyrics are awesome too.

Banana Pancakes-4/5- This song took me awhile to warm up to, but I like it a lot now. It's got a great guitar intro.

Good People-4/5- Really, really cool. I like the lyrics a lot.

No Other Way-3/5- It's not bad, I just don't like it as much. The guitar intro is fun stuff though.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing-5/5- Great, great, GREAT song! Oh man, it gets stuck in my head a lot, but with this song it doesn't get annoying. Awesome song, easy to play on guitar too.

Staple it Together-2/5- I like the instrumentation a lot, but the lyrics aren't that great. Maybe I just don't understand it, but I'm just not a fan of this song.

Situations-4/5- I'd give it five points if it wasn't for the fact that it's only about a minute long...but nevertheless, it's a quality tune.

Crying Shame-2/5- No thanks.

If I Could-5/5- Oh man! So sad, but awesome. The guitar part is righteous.

Breakdown-4/5- I really like the instruments in it, and the lyrics are great too.

Belle-4/5- Stinking cool guitar part. It sounds like a song you'd hear in France...considering the lyrics are French. Great song.

Do You Remember-5/5- My second favorite, for some weird reason. I LOVE the guitar part, it's amazing.

Constellations-3/5- The guitar part is amazing. It doesn't sound real. The lyrics are just cheesy, but it's a good closer to the album.

It's an amazing album, well worth the cash you'll spend on it.

If you like Jack Johnson, you'll probably like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, the Dave Matthews Band, Gavin Degraw, and Maroon 5. Maybe not all of them, but he is really similar to John Mayer the most.

Enjoy! It's goooooooooooooooooood stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars I need this,old train to breakdown....., June 30, 2006
This review is from: In Between Dreams (Audio CD)
Looking at his previous works, In Between Dreams, Jack Johnson's third studio offering, seems to lack that special something to put over the top and be better than Brushfire Fairytales. But, it is a remarkably good cd. This cd has been in my car everyday since I got it, over a year ago.

Standout out tracks are the acoustic "Do You Remember", the beautiful, "Breakdown", the light and lovely, "Never Know" and "Sitting, Waiting, Wshing"

This album is certainly a must for any DMB fan, or easy, mellow fan. Wonderful

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer Sessions, March 8, 2006
This review is from: In Between Dreams (Audio CD)
There is no quesiton in my mind about the rating of this album if i could go above 5 stars i would!

I first heard of Jack Johnson back in 2003, i bought his previous albums Brushfire Fairytales and On and On, i must add these are eqaully as good, possibly go as far as to say On and On has the edge.

But back to I.B.D, there is not one track that needs to be skipped. Each track i find takes you someplace you want to go, may have been or reminds you of a memory. Constellations,If I Could, No Other Way, and of course Breakdown are major highlights. I advise anyone to purchase his DVD Weekend At the Greek, to hear some truly inspirational sit ins with ALO(Animal Liberation Orchestra).

Jack Johnson i think is one of the rare artists that seem to be able to really paint a picture in ur mind. And i mean a clear vivid image. Its the ultimate chill out album for barbys on the beach! followd by a surf. If theres one artist to look out for in the future Jack Johnson will be it. I advise you to buy all his albums i can only think of one average song..and thats not even worth a skip!

Enjoy the Ride!

BUY THICKER THAN WATER ALSO!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, February 13, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: In Between Dreams (Audio CD)
First off, I'm into metal (thrash, experimental, math and death metal to be exact)... but for some reason when I heard Jack Johnson I fell in love with him. Every song is great. Definately recommend to buy no matter what type of music you like... very enjoyable and peaceful (a little change from the constant screaming and pounding drums in my case).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Jack Johnson CD!, February 10, 2006
This review is from: In Between Dreams (Audio CD)
This CD introduced me to Jack Johnson. Which caused me to go out and buy the rest of his CDs. The radio singles on this are "Sitting, Waiting, and Wishing", "Breakdown", and "Good People". The best song on here though is "Banana Pancakes." This song makes me want to eat a banana pancake. For some reason I don't understand why this wasnt a single since everyone I talk to seems think this is his best song and most catchy. Every song on this CD is great except "Belle" and "If I Could".

1.) Better Together 5/5

2.) Never Know 5/5

3.) Banana Pancakes 6/5

4.) Good People 4/5

5.) No Other Way 3/5

6.) Sitting, Wishing, Waiting 5/5

7.) Staple it Together 4/5

8.) Situations 3/5

9.) Crying Shame 5/5

10.) If I Could 2/5

11.) Breakdown 5/5

12.) Belle 1/5

13.) Do You Remember 5/5

14.) Constellations 4/5

4.0 out of 5 stars New Jack Johnson Fan, January 27, 2006

A friend clued me into this Hawaiian son's style and I have to say, I didn't give him much thought at first. I loved the voice but the particular song he had me listen to just didn't stick with me.

A recent road trip required hours of good music and I decided to pick up Jack's CD 1) because it was on sale, and 2) I thought it was funny all of his albums had silhouettes or partial glances of Jack, but none had his full face on the cover. This is a guy who is hiding, I thought. Maybe he will reveal himself though his music.

He definitely did.

The whole album is great, my favorite song is "Better Together" and I can't help but hum it as I drive to work in the morning. "Breakdown" also hits home with me. His sweet melodic voice is a change from the James Blunt ritual I had been following for weeks on end on my car's CD player, and his talents definitely transport me somewhere else. Which I think should be the whole point of music.

I am definitely going to buy other albums.

I like this album more the more I listen. The lyrics and the music work together in the way that tells me they came from straight from the writer's right brain. I guess this is so, because I feel transported when I listen. You need both the lyrics and the music to be inspired to have a powerful work that can really move, and this album does that for me.

All the tracks are good. There is not a bad track on this album. I am happy to whole-heartedly support this artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am back to buying albums because of Jack Johnson, October 5, 2005

This review is from: In Between Dreams (Audio CD)
Being a devoted iPod user, I had gotten away from buying entire albums. I would download a single song here and there but feel no real need to buy the entire album. This CD has changed that for me. I started with his first single Sitting, Waiting, Wishing and then slowly added more and more song from the album. It is a wonderful CD with music that is mellow, fun, romantic and in general, just enjoyable. What I like best about his music is that it can be all of those things without being sappy, boring or repetitive. He has a wonderful style to him and his voice is a pleasure to listen to. I look forward to his next CD!

Great CD. Maybe not as good as On & on & Brushfire, but definately pure Jack. I could listen to it over and over again... Great music for chillin' on the beach, or maybe just on your deck in suburbia ;) Oh well...we can't all life the surfer life...but his music can make you feel like you are!
