Very blah tracks. Nothing good or memorable. Simon Cowell would call it "Completely forgettable."
For the best new stuff out try: Cosmic Gate - Back 2 Back 3; Markus Schulz - Amsterdam 08; Sander Van Doorn - Supernaturalistic.

Probably Paul's weakest release,

First off, purchase the mp3 release. It contains more tracks and has longer running times than the CD release.
Second, PvD's famous (or infamous) 4-4 beat gets very tiresome here. It plagues just about every track. It works for some of the tracks, but in songs like 'New York City' it just gets ugly repetitive. And when that's pread over 17 tracks, it becomes hard to really distinguish and separate one track from the other. Some of his best tracks here are 'Another Sunday' and 'La Dolce Vita'. Still, there's nothing quite as memorable, nothing that would stand alone as a classic PVD tune like 'Forbidden Fruit', 'Another Way', or 'Autumn'. I don't believe that these few tracks would, however, justify a purchase of this album except from the most ardent PVD fans and those just generally interested in what one of the world's top DJs produces. For that measure, I would recommend the Global CD/DVD. On the upside, this album does return PVD more to his dance roots and I appreciate that. We saw a slight departure to a more artistic expression (and commercial) with Reflections (see my review) and him experimenting with hip-hop wasn't exactly a well-received experiment. But to be honest, Reflections sounds refreshing compared to this. Reflections had a bit of filler, but tracks like 'Time of our Lives', 'Reflections', and of course, the euphoric 'Nothing But You' were sonic heaven-- and all three tracks sounded different. Still nothing beats a PVD live set or a PVD remix thrown in a PVD set, and the remixes for New York City and White Lies are rather good. Unfortunately, In Between is an album best served in small doses rather than in a large, single serving.

The only song I really loved was the first, "Haunted." The rest was just okay and the last song was no good at all! I usually love Paul Van Dyk, but for some reason, this CD didn't do it for me.

Quite frankly, I was a little disapointed with this recent salvo by Paul Van Dyk. This album was a little tiered at times, and newer material from Armin Van Buren, Tiesto, and Markus Schulz are much more engaging than In Between. I hate writing this review since I love Paul Van Dyk's work, but I simply think better electronica is being made today.

Big fan of Paul Van Dyk but this album disappointed me. To me it doesn't flow together well and sounds like a generic "techno" album.

Slow pop album...,

Definitely got it just for the name, thinking it was going to be at a higher beat, but turned to be more like a pop album, kind of slow. After a few songs the remaining keep a flat line, and it made me stop paying attention and suddenly had ended after 17 songs...
3 songs I would call "rescueable": "White Lies", "New York City" and "La Dolce Vita"

I had been waiting for a long time for a new PVD release and when it came out, I wasn't too impressed. Only #13 is a real upbeat tune in my opinion but after the CD was over, I could didn't feel like rewinding for more. Much preferred politics of dancing 2. Come on Paul, you're supposed to be the world's best DJ and we love you but this was not your strongest hit and you know it! Mach es besser nachsten mal...

a 5 stars album destined to become another classic to PvD fans,

I am already in love with PvDs new album In Between. Ive been waiting for his new project since his last artist solo album (Reflections) and I couldnt be more happier with it. Just as they announced it, this new album is indeed more comercial than his past releases but that doesnt mean at all this new work isnt marvelous: its impactante! Haunted is a great opener album that creates the mood for it, followed for the hit single White Lies (sort of the L.A.X mix available on its single version and vinyl). From track 3rd and beyond its all upbeats, colored by his sweet melodic sounds and production. Once you get by the track "Far Away" you are already hipnotized by its sound and youre just in the middle of the record! Definately just what I expected from PvD. Favorite tracks so far: Haunted, White Lies, Get back, Far away, Stormy skies, NYC & Let Go.
Btw, this isnt Politics of Dancing part 3 at all. This isnt a mixing album. This is PvD as a artist, producing AND mixing. Definately a good follower to his grammy award nominated album Reflections. ps. Ive got both Elements of Life from Tiesto and In Between from PvD. I love both artists to death. However, Ive got clicked by In Between right away & on my first listen to the whole album. That didnt happened to me with Elements of Life, which took me around 1 month to start to like it and finally love it. You do the match and decide by yourself ;) EDIT: Theres a special edition of this record that contains a track (World in my eyes) with vocals by PvD himself! Definately worth it. Get it if u can! This is the standard track list for it: White Lies Berlin [Vocal Mix by Paul van Dyk & Alex M.O.R.P.H.] Détournement (original version) The Big Bang Torn World In My Eyes [Vocals by Paul van Dyk] White Lies [Count Mix] Taking The Long Way Love Is What We Fear Can In between get better than this!!? Im amazed by the quality of it all. Definately didnt expected it to be THIS good.

Nothing Special,

This Album is nothing special. It sounds more like a pop album and almost every track has vocals in it. This album does not compare to Paul Van Dyks other albums (45rpm, Reflections, Seven Ways, Out there and back). It is not a horrible Album however, as The tracks are all ok, but I was expecting something more from the number one ranked DJ in the world.

Paul van dyk is one of my favorite trance dj's along with markus schulz and tiesto. This is one of the worst albums I have heard from him, and I have heard most of his stuff. If you liked politics of dancing, reflections, or out there and back, as I do..... you will not like this, it sounds like a "pop" album for the first half. The second half of the cd has some "ok" tracks, nothing amazing though. I am still a fan though, won't let this album change my perspective that PVD is still one of the most amazing dj's.
