The break down in character and story continuity began in the last episode with Dr's Holt and Kate finally kissing. One would expect a cogent follow up in this episode. Instead, there is the unlikely week long avoidance of Michael to discuss the situation with Kate who is in an equally confusing pre-divorce condition with her alternately angry then desirous husband. On top of this is buried the transplanted heart of Michael's ex-wife/ghost in a clinica patient ending in a fiery conclusion. The emotions emanating from Michael after this terrible incident in which the patient dies, along with Anna's heart, are never resolved, only eluded to, and the ending feels confused, convoluted and very unsatisfactory. I really like this series and feel its final episode deserved much, much better.

Bought the first and only season with Amazon Instant Prime. I liked the show when it was on TV, but now watching the videos, I realized how much I missed. It was such a fascinating program. The details are amazing. During the surgical scenes, it really looks like Dr. Holt (Patrick Wilson) is operating. The acting is first rate. If you missed this show when it was on or if you want to remember how good it was, the videos are for you. You will enjoy the show, though, like me, you'll wish there were more than 16 episodes to find out what happens to these characters.

What idiot took this series off the air? Was it taken because it had a level of intelligence that the usual sitcom lacks? Or was it because the actors were realistically cast and did a great job in their roles? Or perhaps that the creators of this series had reality as their goal? Again, what idiot took this series off if the air?

I like the settings' contrasts: the "haves" of the Holt clinic in a bright, shiny building with every advantage and the "have nots" clinica setting, a store front where basic tools are rarely available, patients come in with acute care problems and the clinica must try to help them. This is a timely example of how health care works (or doesn't) in this country. I have worked in a poverty based, inner city clinic and find the situation fairly realistic: gun threat is not unheard of but I would say doing any kind of surgery in such a setting is fairly rare. Patrick Wilson pulls off a tricky part well: he is the arrogant and rare doctor, a neurosurgeon, who performs all kinds of tricky maneuvers with medical cases that are unusual. He is almost too reticent about his talent except he is so darn confident and self-assured, this calm crankiness seems appropriate. His support person, such a wonderful actress whose name I cannot at the moment recall, doesn't take any guff, reminds him what he is supposed to be doing and when and the mutual respect is evident. The one odd conceit about this program is the presence of his dead but re-appearing wife (played by a very different looking Jennifer Ehle of "Pride and Prejudice") who tries to bring Dr. Holt back into a more feeling humanity. So far, I think it is working albeit very slowly. I especially enjoyed this episode because of how unlikely it would be but how well it walks a fine line between trauma and emotion without becoming melodramatic. Kudos!

Actually saw the Pilot out of sequence the other night, which was disconcerting as my wife and I had watched several episodes. But, even already knowing what was happening this episode was entertaining and engaging. The characters are good and the acting works. We've got it 'Tivo'ed' as a show to watch. The episodes are varied and scripting seems ok so far.

I was so upset when The Gifted Man was canceled! The characters had such a great chemistry and the story line was
always captivating. Although I'm glad the DVD is now available I really wish they would bring this wonderful show back!

After E.R., and after a long time here is the refresher, simple(easy to understand) ,lot better than "House" and "Grey's Anatomy - a medical drama that touches your heart & soul. Whole casting is excellent along with all the actors' performances. The actress who plays "Kate"is absolutely stunning and a natural actress.

My only wish that they don't cancel this series. We have fallen in love with this TV Series.

Wish a second season was coming but CBS is as expected not the brightest bunch. Best of luck to Patrick and all the other fine actors in this show. I have the entire Season One and have enjoyed every episode.
