Book Description

January 3, 2012
This book 220 pages in book form.
Faith and loyalty are tested as a young girl learns what it is to believe - in herself, in her friends, and in life after death.

Cassie's best friend, bad boy Todd, is gone. Gone as in dead. Gone as in he's now a ghost.

But she doesn't realize that when he wakes her in her bedroom and begs her not to believe what they say about him. It's not until the next day when her parents tell her about the accident that she learns the truth...

The police believe Todd was living up to the family name, drinking and driving and coming to a predictable end. It's up to her to find out the truth and clear his name.

Todd is shocked at his sudden change in circumstances...and angry. He struggles with his new ghostly reality, realizing all he's lost as he watches his brother build a relationship with Cassie as the two pair up to find out what really happened to him.

The truth isn't always pretty, and Cassie has to be stronger than ever before. Especially when the whole world seems to be against her.

From the Author

IN CASSIE'S CORNER is an emotional heart-warming story of a young woman's journey to both solve the mystery of her best friend's death and deal with his presence in spirit form.  You might tear up while reading this story, but you will end it with a smile on your face.

It's the first of the young adult books that I have written.  It is also the most emotional. That's part of the reason why I didn't publish it first.

Unlike several of my other young adult books, this one does NOT end in a cliff hanger ending. It's set up for more books in the series if I decide I want to continue telling Cassie's and Jessie's stories.

Enjoy!

A winner! January 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book turned out to be even more than I expected. It was great from the beginning with Cassie talking to her friend Todd...and finding out the next morning that he's dead. Cassie and Todd are troubled teens, and their parents are far from perfect. Trying to unravel the mystery behind Todd's death, Cassie enlists her crush - Todd's younger brother, who has his own problems with his parents.

This book has a lot of twists. It surprised me and it made me think. It was a mystery, a ghost story, and so much more. The author said this is set up for more books in a series. I hope so! I want to read them.

Got to read a pre-release version of this book and was not disappointed. I'll admit, I'm not a teen, but I remember those years. Cassie is bright and dedicated to her friend Todd. She has a mystery to solve, which may sound a little Nancy Drew-ish (for those of us who remember that character!), but this story digs more deeply into emotions. I vividly remember two of my high school classmates who died in car crashes. They were there one day and gone the next. I think it's a rite of passage when adolescents confront their own mortality. This story hit on all cylinders for me.

A most emotional story! January 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm not normally a reader of YA stories, however this one intrigued me and it really surprised me. Having already read several Dale Mayer's books, I've come to realize her stories are different. This was has a difficult subject, a unique approach, and a strong emotional journey - all that make this a very enjoyable read.

Mayer isn't afraid to touch on difficult subjects. She handled this one - drinking and driving, the guilt, the blame, and the survivor's journey very well - with the ghost aspect/perspective adding in another whole layer.

Although you might tear up once or twice, you will end the book smiling. Lovely job.

Could have been better!
Good emotional plot but there were too many errors in the writing. At one point Todd has brown hair and then he has jet black hair, which is it? Read more
