Editorial Reviews

This incredible concert DVD + Bonus CD documents exactly the kind of extraordinary performances that made Cinderella one of the biggest metal bands of the 80s. Filmed by a whole crew of cameras during the legendary 1991 Heartbreak Station Tour, when the b

I purchased this DVD with great anticipation because Cinderella always puts on a great live show and has a diverse catalog of songs to draw from ranging from grungy hard rock to melodic ballads.

Unfortunately, the video quality is pretty low budget, but the real issue here is the sound... besides a processed and fake sounding 5.1 mix(the 2 channel mix is much better sounding), there is a ridiculous overdubbed cheering audience that is heard CONSTANTLY throughout the entire performance... it is so distracting that I sat there in entire disbelief that somebody actually signed off on it... didn't anybody from the band listen to this production?

The person who did the mix probably wrote the cheesy text on the back of the DVD as well... fire that guy!

It's definitely a Spinal Tap-ish scenario... maybe they can remove the fake audience and re-release this concert since the band sound so good.

I've seen just about every popular hair metal band that came out of the late eighties and early nineties live in concert. I've seen them in their hey-day, as well as their nostalgia tours. None have impressed me as much as Cinderella. I know what your thinking, Cinderella? What about Poison? Cinderella made many passes with Poison later in their career, and blew Poison off the stage every time. Cinderella always had that little something the others didn't. Not only were they about good times and good women, but they had a blusey tone that most bands had forgotten about in the 90s. Cinderella never got the attention they deserved. Maybe it was because of the legal battle with their label or Tom Kiefer's on-going vocal problems, but Cinderella was a great group with lots of great music to offer.

In Concert appears to have been remastered from a home video recording that was released in the early nineties, so don't expect HD quality anything. Your getting the best footage available at the time, which is still quite clear, and shot at multiple angles. What was enhanced from the original recordings was the sound. The 5.1 sound is good, but not the best, but there is only so much you can do with older mixes. From the opening chords of "The More Things Change" to the closing fanfare of "Shelter Me," Cinderella deliver seventeen songs packed with blusey swagger and heartfelt emotion. The bonus CD holds up to the DVD in sound quality. A must have for any hair metal fan.

**** - FOUR STARS

==================

I love Cinderella in a live setting, and any chance I get to see them I don't hesitate. They're one of my favorite live bands strictly because they let their music do the talking. No sugar coating stage elements, or meaningless props, just pure rock n' roll...

That said, this is Cinderella at their musical peak. Filmed during the 1991 "Heartbreak Station Tour" in Detroit, this DVD captures Cinderella during they're biggest healine tour. I've been waiting for a something like this for a very long time, and I was not at all disappointed...

Sure, it has some minor flaws, but that's always expected in one form or another. I think some fans are just too picky sometimes, and need to look at what it's worth for what it is, instead of setting our own {sometimes unattainable} expectations....

As a long time Cinderella fan, and waiting many years for something from the boyz live on stage, this is actually very enjoyable in my opinion. Is it Cinderella's greatest live performance?..probably not, but it's still quite good all things considered....

If you're a Cinderella fan, this DVD is a must purchace in my opinion. It's a pro shot concert, and the set list smokes with 17 songs. How can anyone complain about that???...

Cinderella have been really neglected as far as the resurgance in popularity of the hair stuff goes. Tom Keifer is condiderably more talented, at least in my opinion, than say, Poison. His songs have always come across as a little more raw and real than the Sunset stuff, and he sticks to the blues oriented rock that make Aerosmith and Zeppelin tick.
His vocals are a bit put on, but you'd be hard pressed to find many rock guys still going that have the talent and drive he does. I caught them on their 2010 tour and he was all over the place, playing guitar, slide guitar, sax, piano, steel, and singing his ass off. If you get the chance to see them live, do!
As for this particular DVD, it's another quality product from the band as far as performance goes. A great show, going over most of their best songs, with the vigor of 1991. I'd like to have had "Long Cold Winter," but other than that, I can't complain.
The audio starts off sort of poor, but the sound man fixed the mix as he went, as you do in a live situation, and it's pretty clear from the beginning on. The video is typical early '90's.
As stated, the band puts on a great performance, and it really bums me out that these guys aren't more appreciated. The real musicians fall by the wayside as the media whores get the limelight.
Keep it up, guys!

I am almost 40 and when I was in college in fell in love with Cinderella. There is not much from the 80's that you can name that I havent seen. If you are like me you can not stand much of the music of today so you go back to the past. This is a great dvd!! Dont think twice, get it. Back to my vodka. Rock on!
