Editorial Reviews

Deluxe two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) set. Aptly titled in the Flesh, the DVD is a real in-depth look at The Poodles style of life with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and a collection of the promo video clips shot for the Clash of the Elements album. in addition, a selection of the band's classic cuts performed live shows that The Poodles are delivering the goods when the play live. The CD, No Quarter, is an audio account of the very same 2009 tour, featuring the band performing hits in their own powerful way. Frontiers.

"In the flesh/No quarter" is a CD-DVD combo capturing the Swedish glam metal band "The Poodles" live in their home country, in support of their 3rd, latest to date album "Clash of the elements" (2009). It is common practice in the industry that bands market their first live offering after the release of their third studio album; and in many ways 2010 seemed to be the right time for "The Poodles" to release theirs. Specifically their 5-year presence as a recording artist ensures a robust back catalogue of songs that the band explores on stage. For that matter, all their domestic/European chart hits are included: "Night of passion", "I rule the night", "One out of ten" and "line of fire".

For those that have not seen "The Poodles" play live (including the reviewer), this DVD very much verifies that the band are rocking in a really hard manner and are equally comfortable displaying not only their hits but also their heaviest material such as "Thunderball", "Seven Seas" and "Flesh and blood".

Now concentrating on the visual aspect, one is glad to admit that "The Poodles" have planned, executed and captured this event as best as possible. First of all, it is an outdoor show, with a fairly large stage and strong presence of audience (incredibly spanning from metalheads to teenagers-to families with small children). And from there onwards one gets possibly all the elements one misses in today's concerts: stage pyrotechnics, changing backgrounds, alternative costumes and a huge drum kit, all of which make the DVD a real eye candy for any glam/hair metal fan or 80's hard rock lover.

As far as audio and visual performance goes the band delivers: Jakob Samuel is the ideal glam frontman who excels in style, pose and vocal attack.

I had never heard of The Poodles until they were booked for the upcoming Melodic Rock Festival in October 2014. I checked out several of their videos on YouTube and was very impressed. After searching for all the bands CDs on Amazon, I decided to purchase this one since it contained most of the hits from their first three albums plus the "In the Flesh" DVD.

The CD is great and The Poodles sound just as good live as they do in the studio. The only huge hit missing from this CD is the #1 "Raise the Banner."

The real gem in this collection is the DVD. I have seen hundreds of music documentaries about artists, classic albums, studios and even music fans but this is the best I have ever seen. "In the Flesh" contains live performances mixed with great interviews, fan interactions and a history of the band. You have the option of watching just the live concert footage by itself like one uninterrupted concert or watching with documentary footage between each song.

All of the band members seen very personable and love interacting with their fans. A special segment is given to each band member to show them in their private lives and explain how they got interested in music. I was very impressed with the anti-drug messages and the fact that their audience is comprised of young children all the way up to grandparents.

They only thing bad I can say about this DVD is that it is only in stereo. If they would re-master this for Blu-ray with a lossless soundtrack, I would double dip in a heartbeat.

I was so impressed with this CD/DVD that I went on Amazon and bought all five Poodles CDs. I am really looking forward to meeting these guys at Melodic Rock Fest!

REVIEW FOR THE POODLES FANS...

First,I want to thanks again to my friend Gianny Painkiller, that made me as gift some money to can buy this Cd-Dvd album "No Quarter" of The Poodles band, and also I want to say sorry to Amazon team that again I didn't bought this album from their site like I ussualy do,but it was because on this site the product was little expensive for my buget,so I must buy it from E-bay site, where I found it at a little cheap price.

Second,I want to say to all music fans that even if I am not a fan of this band, also they are in my favorite bands list,so I totally recommended this band and this cd-dvd album to all music fans that are in search of new bands.

Third, this band was formed in 2006,in Sweden,by singer Jakob Samuel,ex. drummer of Talisman band, which was asked by the good composer Matti Alfonzetii,Johan Lyander, and Robert Ollauson, and lyricist Sonja Alden,to sing a song called "Night of Passion",and he was such impressed but this song that he asked the drummer Christian Lundqvist, bassist Pontus Edgberg,ex Lion Share band, and guitarist Pontus Norgren,ex.Talisman too,to join him and form a band under the name of The Poodles, late Pontus Ergberg was replace with Henrik Bergqvist.
