4.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack
This was a very good movie and we loved all the songs during the movie so we got the soundtrack. I was disappointed the 'la la la la' song from the trailer was missing and found out it's 40' by Franz Ferdinand so I bought that as well. Then i realized the Shins were missing; however on one website i found by searching google, it lists Gone for None and Those to Come as...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but what about the movie?
This soundtrack is a good compilation of artists and covers a wide variety of music tastes, but if you saw the movie and are looking for songs that were actually played during it, you are out of luck. I just saw the movie yesterday and heard wonderful songs like Damien Rice's Cannonball and The Shins' Those to Come and Gone for Good that I recognized. This soundtrack has...

This soundtrack has neither of these artists and is more instrumental than moving. Only buy this CD if you like these artists independently of In Good Company, because most of them are not in the movie itself.

Then i realized the Shins were missing; however on one website i found by searching google, it lists Gone for None and Those to Come as being on the soundtrack a long with Damien Rice's Cannonball. Are there two versions? Anyway, seeing as I bough this digitally, I'll just buy these left out songs and 'add them on'. Highly Recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent soundtrack, January 14, 2005

This review is from: In Good Company (Audio CD)
The soundtrack In Good Company and the movie are very good. I really liked the song Glass, Concrete, and Stone by David Byrne. This is a song about the routine of daily life. It is also about how hard everybody works to earn a living. The track Besame Mucho by Diana Krall is another highlight for me. Her rendition of this classic song is very soothing and sensual. Naked as We Came by Iron and Wine is a very pretty song about we all feel insecure at some point in our lives.

Peter Gabriel's hit song Solsbury Hill is included on this soundtrack. I think this song is very uplifting and optimistic. I haven't heard it in years, and I really enjoyed it. Steely Dan's classic Reeling in the Years is just a feel good song. Composer Stephen Trask contributes three wonderful instrumental tracks that enhance the movie well I'm Psyched is a beautiful lively instrumental piece about working together to get the job done. This is one of my favorite tracks on this soundtrack. In Good Company is an excellent soundtrack. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Iron & Wine, April 24, 2005
This review is from: In Good Company (Audio CD)
You should buy this album just to listen to The Trapeze Swinger by Iron & Wine. I don't usually like really slow, melancholic songs, but I think this one's absolutely beautiful. I actually almost started crying when I was listening to the lyrics once. It's played over the entire credits of IGC, as the song goes for almost 10 minutes.
It's beautiful.

Also, the movie is VERY good! So you should see that too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the movie, August 31, 2005

This soundtrack does it for me. It's entrancing. "Tapeeze Swinger" is so beautiful! And this is the only album on which I could find it. The other Iron & Wine songs are great too. I could just zone out to this soundtrack; it's so relaxing. And peter Gabriel rocks! I don't particularly care for the instrumentals by Stephen Trask, and it's missing "Cannonball" too, which is a travesty, I agree, but other than that, it's a must-have movie soundtrack.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why are the Shins forgotten again?, January 25, 2005
This review is from: In Good Company (Audio CD)
I watched the movie and loved it, great music in the movie as well. I am now wondering why the best and most moving songs in the movie aren't on the soundtrack. I finally hear some of my favorite bands on the big screen and they don't even have them on the soundtrack. If you are expecting to hear half the songs you listened to during the movie, this product is not for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A chance to discover an artist, May 13, 2006

This review is from: In Good Company (Audio CD)
Well you can't say a lot about the bunch of oldies, they're just great but i didn't buy the album for that. I bought it just to hear "The Trapeze Swinger" by Iron and Wine over and over again, just a couple of minutes hearing it at the end of the movie while leaving the theater was enough for me to fall in love with that song. I've never liked slow songs but for the times i feel sad, but this song just makes my eyes wet everytime i listen it. Just give it a try, it's worth, i promise.

I would have put a higher rating but there are not a single shins track or damien rice's (cannonball, how could they?!...).Nice to listen to when you are exhausted and want to rest a while on your bed,chair,sofa,etc...Love the iron and wine tracks, specially the one from the end credit,so beautiful...the movie is nice to.

Liked the movie...liked the soundtrack, but....at the end , when I was almost pushing the button on my RC to change to another channel I heard that song, that beautiful song...I couldn't change channels until the song was over and I read the name of the singer..Iron & Wine...Later I found out the title, it was "The trapeze Swinger"...
I am buying this CD just for this one song....and it is worth the money...
All the other songs and artists are good, I mean, you are talking about Peter Gabriel, Steely Dan and David Byrne..You can't say nothing new about these guys...but this one was new to me, and although I am not into sad songs this one I loved!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars an eclectic mix that works well, December 21, 2005
This review is from: In Good Company (Audio CD)
Though the overall feel to the album is mellow (namely due to Iron and Wine contributions), every now and then a song that one wouldn't think would mix well with the others actually adds a great layer to the soundtrack.

Though it is true that a few powerful songs are missing from the soundtrack (the lost star goes out to them), the group of songs still make a powerful album.

The mood ranges from whimsical, sensual, playful, nostalgic, meloncholy and energetic-- quite a range to cover, yet the execution is done through a fabulous selection of artists. A few newer artists are thrown in (like Iron and Wine), some obscure ones (who exactly is Stephen Trask?) and some classics as well (Steelie Dan). The selection of artists leaves all of the generations satisfied and feeling pretty relaxed come the last track.

In most cases, soundtracks compliment the movie. In the case of "In Good Company," however, the soundtrack demands more attention than the theme and for good reason-- the soundtrack is done exceptionally well, following no conventional genre or particular mood. Nicely done.
